BlueCoyote 0
so many reasons why.. one could come from his home before you got him.. underfed pups will eat their own sh*t and that of others. i think its also a sign of a mineral or nutrients deficiency.. The pup is indoors on a tiled floor, so I dont leave the poo hanging about for more than a few seconds, as you can imagine! He goes outside loads, but still catches me out if I'm not totally aware of what he's up to. Oh well, pups for you I guess !

Hi Blue, He's deff not underfed, he's on Autarky puppy food 3 times a day, which I guess should have all the required vits & mins? He's got an amazing shine on his coat, healthy gums and clear eyes.... so I recon at a glance he's ok. I've got his second vac's coming up next week, so I'll ask the vet then. I know lots of dogs that'll eat different animals sh*t, sheep, horse and rabbit etc..... but not thier own.... What a conversation hey
Caravan Monster 323
Try feeding some charcoal dog biscuits- they apparently taste good to eat but bad when they come out the other end.
Urchin 0
not nice Tis TM! there could be loads of reasons why he does it - could be a deficiency ... vitamin B is one that people talk about, in which case brewers yeast should help. If he's not absorbing his food properly it could be to do with his digestion rather than his diet - but only a vet could tell you that. More likely is that it's either summat he learned to do where he was before - or he just likes the taste  Try putting pineapple juice in his food, apparently it makes poo taste bad (well, worse lol!) Sounds interesting! worth a try I guess ... something to do with the acid in the pineapple maybe..... If It works I'll be for ever greatfull! I'm quite partial to a chunk or two myself actually lol

Urchin, Thanks for that, it seems that pineapple will be on the menu tomorrow for sure... its a beastly subject I know  but its even worse having a pup doing that in the house and kids that wanna play with him. I'll look into the Vit B thing if the pineapple doesn't work.
Malt 379
Lots of puppies have this habbit, most of them grow out of it, but some dogs still do it when they grow up. I read an article on it on the 'net somewhere, I think it's a carry over from wolves in the wild. There's a proper name to it, i'll try and dig it back up and post a link. Edited to say: Here's a link, I don't think it's the same one I read before, but it's pretty informative. Click Here! Hope it helps!
