Marty O Hare 3
My beddy cross is getting on a bit now and I can tell he's sore after a run out so its about time for retirement I think, exept the odd run here and their. I really fancy a saluki x grey or saluki x grey/whippet next when the time comes for a new pup. Just wondering how trainable this cross would be i.e recall and retrieveing and would like to hear from people who run such a cross. I realise it's a different kind of dog to a beddy cross and am prepared to put in the time with training. A pic of a saluki we had when I was a kid ; Quote Link to post

I realise it's a different kind of dog to a beddy cross and am prepared to put in the time with training. A pic of a saluki we had when I was a kid ; i have had a few saluki crosses i have two saluki greyhounds at moment they can be quite handful when young seem to be deaf but i find with trainning the can be some of the best dogs they seem to have a natural understanding of hunting no need to show them how to chase and kill more the getting them to stay and basic field trainning they seem too itchy to get stuck in to wait for the order to go get it but i find that once they are a year or to old the seem more steady and become very loyal and dont seem to want to leave your side. if you have a well trainned dog it is a joy to watch work but if you have very well trained saluki there is nothing like it a true sight to behold in full flight these two were a handful to train when younger but now the seem to do everything and anything i need them to do but now it time to retire one of mine to and start with a new one to best of luck with your hunt for a pup and the training you wont be disapointed Edited December 29, 2007 by scottish lurcher Quote Link to post

Meerihunter 7
Mine are perfectly managable, they'll walk to heel, come when called and stop when in pursuit, so long as they are'nt too far away. That will do me. They are as trainable as any dog so long as you take the right approach. Quote Link to post
weejohn 3
merrihunter that clip you have there is great, those salukis make the jumping look effertless , especially the one that went over that wall, that must of been 10foot +. Quote Link to post

Simoman 110
I trained under 'arguably' two of the best schoolers of canines in the UK.... They are both dead,.but I have never forgotten their kindness towards me,... I learnt a lot,... Salukis ARE trainable,...end of story.... Was that John Holmes Chalky? Quote Link to post
