Pups will be 1/2 whippet on one side 4/8 and 1/8 whippet on other side with remaining 3/8 bc..... 

You are 1/2 each of your parents

1/4 each of your grandparents 

And 1/8 each of your great gandparents and so on

5/8 whippet 3/8 bc. Like already mentioned,breeding is a reverse 3/4 bred to a pure like what Hancock did for some of his 5/8 stuff . Just 1/2 the breeding of both parents then add them together to find the percentage of pups .

Putting a first cross over a three quarter also gives you a 3/8 5/8 cross. Some people like them and it's probably a better way to breed them as both parents will have been more tested in theory.

I went down this road once with saluki greyhounds, but unless you cross two dogs of the same percentage together each generation is going to be different from the last. you realy cant beat line breading like x like for both ability and appearance .
