Computer screen wasnt meant as "troll hiding behind a computer screen" type comment mate but just thats all i know about you and people (not you lol) can become obsessed with an online persona that they hide behind to a point it blinkers themselves to their real life!

On a thread like this you have folk justifying their alcohol use by saying they dont drink as much as an alcoholic but there isnt different levels of being an alcoholic lol if you drink everyday your an alcoholic same as if you smoke every day your addicted to smoking

f**k me im an alcoholic then ......

I'm at about 15 seconds at the moment...

This can be nice,

I understand that mate and you're right a lot of this does get lost in translation and will inevitably do so due to the limitations of the format we use to engage. I've been on here since IanB opened

There's a big difference between being alcohol dependant and enjoying the odd beer. John fair play you are dry after being alcohol dependant. But it sounds like you're still very much obsessed with the stuff just by your massive input on this thread.

I don't tiptoe around tulips here either. I'm absolutely an alcoholic by modern standards. 1950's standards I'm simply a social drinker. By US standards I'm on course for liver failure but by Polish standards, I'm essentially tee-total.

Fact is I don't really give a f*ck because I really enjoy it. I'm an alconaut and life is one big voyage!

Gonna wade in here from experience.

My ex accused me of being an alchie! Apparently a couple of bottles of beer, in the bar, after work with mates is excessive and a problem. I never get angry or become a cnut no matter how much I drink (which isn't much). Outcome since I got rid of her, I drink maybe 2-3 times a week and even then it's not more than 3....

Now look at my dad; pissed up as long as I can remember, he's been warned, slapped, kicked out etc yet he still does it.. we found out a couple of weeks ago the Dr has told him if he carries on he'll be dead in 6 month and if he stops he'll be lucky to see next year!

Point is if someone wants to stop supping, they'll be the ones who decide to! Otherwise they'll just continue until they're dead.

John ya wanna stop preaching to others and concentrate on yourself pal ;)

What you are not seeing and what has been said is... not everyone ends up like you or my dad.

Ex and current addicts always blame the substance..... not their own weakness! And not everyone is weak enough to become an addict!

Edited to add; I'm sat in a bar right now, just had a coffee and now I'm having a bottle of zero alcohol beer ?

Lol fair play mate and I'm glad you enjoy it ? post the same thing when your hungover at work on a Monday morning though and I'll be impressed :D

I rarely get them and I don't go in to work under the influence. I'm subject to random drug and alcohol testing at any time when I'm on the clock and will never go into work with any amount in my system. I plan my evenings around not having to go to work the following day and drink accordingly. Generally, I work Wednesday through Saturday afternoon. I won't touch a drop Tuesday night through the rest of the week and then I'll enjoy cocktail hour when I get off work on Saturday afternoon after I've seen to the dogs.

In the West alcohol has been an important part of our culture and heritage since any recorded history began ,it's pre biblical ,it's been used annoint ,celebrate ,grieve ,socialise and medicate for ....well forever ,it's a wonderful creation ,a gift from nature that I am grateful for ,

Don't hate it my old mate ,cynical marketing and our own personal demons sometimes means that blessing becomes a curse ,but alcohol is a good a beneficial boom to mankind ,like every other good thing ,we have to use it wisely .

You should read what I've said before trying to tell me what I've said

I'm referring to your accusations of everyone who drinks being an alchie! You even made a bet about it with Chris I believe it was ;)

My point is not everyone is weak enough to become addicted. All this blaming the breweries etc is complete bollocks. It's like me blaming British American Tobacco for me walking into a shop and buying a pack of Golden Virginia with a pack of skins! I choose to hand my money over and yes I am weak for being addicted to smoking, doesn't mean it's anybody's fault but my own. Same with all substance abuse, personal weakness is the issue not the substance ;)

Take heroin... everyone knows it's a dangerously addictive substance that rots your life, people still do it, yet you don't see many billboards advertising 'get smacked up with golden brown' do you?

I stand by that tbh mate. If someone smokes everyday and has cravings of they cant have one it makes them addicted to smoking and same with drinking imho.

I dont see your point about heroin? Are you trying to say alcohol isnt as bad as heroin? Its every bit as bad if not worse and neither should be on any billboards

Obviously my point went right over your head!
