FJager 0
.270 is a top calibre, can be loaded from as low as 90gr projectiles up to 150gr. It is a fairly large calibre and the recoil in a well stocked weapon is quite acceptable. But for anything under red deer in my opinion it is probably too much gun, it is awesome for those far off shots. It is only acceptable on small game if you head shoot though. Hope this helps Edited December 29, 2007 by FJager Quote Link to post

Suggested by the Home Office as entry level for Boar. Cheers Deker Quote Link to post
peashooter 0
It will be for deer & pos boar, the .223 will be for small deer and foxes. I homeload shotgun & other calibre's so was hopeing to sort out a load with less recoil. Its the speed and flatness or the calibre that I liked the look of Rich. Quote Link to post
v-max 2
Im no 270 fan but it is quite a round for long range punch & flatish shooting & good on paper ie balistics & would be good homeloaded i use a 25/06. Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
A few friends of mine had .270, and they changed them for the 6.5x55, recoil was a factor and homeloads were much the same, they are very happy with the 6.5 however, the .270 they said was hard to get a good group with Quote Link to post
