Likewise, I genuinely enjoy, being around my own hunting partner,..we have great fun and life is a gas. Possibly, I am thinking along anthropomorphic lines, and maybe a contemporary student of training methods or a canine behaviouralist might think my feelings to be silly,..but, I don't care. We only have our lurchers and terriers for a relatively short time,..facts are, if you work them, you can lose them,..they could go, at any time... So, although admiring, the highly trained performance athletes,... I will never subscribe to the notion that a dog is just a dog, and simply see the critter in a cold-hearted and scientific manner. For me, there would be no point in keeping a jukel if it wasn't my bestest, truest friend,... Phil, is that your old bitch maddie? 3 Quote Link to post

stormyboy 1,352
I can see some of what casso is getting at but a lot is buried in gobbledygook. As for dogs seeing others as prey??? Phil hit it succinctly on the head for me- if a dog ain't your canine pal you ain't getting the most out of the relationship. Quote Link to post

billhardy 2,343
I have seen our jukels done both ways fa me there's only one way and that the right way .but I seen them kept in almost solitary yes solitary ,then I stern them kept on the beds the furniture the lot,I believe this thems jukels of ours grow stronger bonds through interaction in the field of work,I also believe they need there own place to wind down rest etc, socialisation can bee seen differently I believe on going activities throu out a jukel lifetime his ongoing socialisation .i do not believe the solitarily type keepers of jukels need abit there sells ,I find this kind keeper are usually like there jukels pretty much useless and fa I find it it a very concerning point has man and dog slowly became partners in crime so did ther socialisation bond get stronger and stronger.,let's keep it this ways the right ways fa the hunting jukel that can turn its hand to to being a provider of flesh or just a buddy ,atb bill Quote Link to post

If we are putting the best WORKING PROVEN base blood in, why compromise on the running dog an use a dog only fit for tracks an short distances when there are sighthound saturated GRAFTERS out there??? I don't know what that has to do with rearing a pup, but your spot on, thay are fast and can hang on better than any thing else so use em. Quote Link to post
