single handed russells

Recommended Posts

Does anybody work single handed russells, dogs that stay in deep places, dig on in awkward spots and find in big sets, i ask because i think the honest white dogs are like hens teeth, and a line of this type even harder to find, i am not saying they dont exist but as i say not all to common.

well i'm no "terrier man" but i've done a fair bit of digging over the years...and i've had and seen some decent russells....that stay until dug..

maybe they are like hens teeth but could'nt that be said about all terriers.....

the one i have now is only a young dog but he's had over 30 digs....and never once failed....not all hard digs but he's had a few awkward ones.....and theres lads on here that can verify this.....

Patch....my castrated Russell ;) .

trouble today that people expect a russell to work like a patt or laky and compare them like wise. russels of my youth had a lot of fox sence and would use brain as well as bottle even the little short legged beggers where commonly worked. the bleeper has moved people slowly away from the good old lines in favour of harder dogs these days.it was nigh impossible to work the deeper earths with anything else.good small and rough stuff is still out there just needs finding.

its a big chance...dog could be off pure shit and is just a mericle which will throw shit...then again he could throw a few great workers...higher chance of workers if breeding off a dog with a line of workers
your right paddy, the dog could be a fluke but somehow i just dont think so,hes too good of a dog not to breed from so just going to give it a go,if his pups are half as good as him they would do just fine!!

Is the brown terrier patterdale x jack russell? Its the double of my pup, which I was told was patterdale x lakeland, I just know mine is patterdale x jack russell. How old is the brown terrier? Thanks for your time.

Regards

Steve ;)

Tyke,

The brown bitch was Lakeland / Russell from some good class local dogs, unfortunately she didn't make the grade and was nasty around the kennels. She was about 3 in that photo.

All the best,

Simmo.
