What a day! Got set off at 9am, on our permission for half past, the owner off this land got me a 50 yard longnet for christmas :tongue2: so thought we would try it out. As soon as we pulled up the wind got up to what must have been 40 mph plus! Anyway we were here now and would have a go.

I saw a rabbit dash into a small stack off silage bales, so out with the long net, set it up as per stubbys helpful advice. one bolted after a couple of minutes, my mate hadnt pushed the peg in hard enough so it fell over just as the rabbit bolted! BUGGER! so set her up again and waited and waited ferret came out, so i gave the order to collect the net in, then the jill went back in and bolted another! Not a good start :icon_redface: anyway got her out and onto a soil pile which the owner really wanted us to do, (what the longnet was bought for) by now the wind was playing havoc with the long net so gave that up as a bad job and just purse netted up. In with two jills left them for a good half hour, nothing happening so out with the locator, got a mark at 4ft so got the spade out and began to dig, after a foot i checked to see if she was there but had moved so left it 15minutes and got a mark at 10ft  waited another 10 minutes to see if she would move again, but no, must have them arsed up so out with the spades! after 7feet off digging the farmer turned up and couldnt stop laughing  by now it was 12:45pm and i was getting a bit annoyed, then i heard what i thought was a tractor fire up, but out came the jcb! Two bucket fulls out of the hole i dug made it alot better! mark at 2 feet so id dig this with the spade, broke in too find two rabbits bottled up and a ferret on the end off them! The other ferret wasnt far behind her so took them out and moved on! After 2 hours digging i was all set for going home but pressed on and got 5 more out off nice easy setts!

Only one bolt all day but got out and about with the ferrets and got a few.

Il never live it down! Ferreting with a JCB! :icon_redface:
