Gay Cake Hits The Supreme Court

Recommended Posts

Back in 2015, Northern Ireland's Ashers Bakery went to court over their refusal to provide a cake with the slogan 'Support Gay Marriage.'

They were found guilty of unlawful discrimination. They've since appealed losing one in October 2016 and this new one going to the supreme court might not reach a verdict until next year.

Personally, I couldn't give a flying f*ck about the plaintiff's sexuality. I couldn't care even a little bit about the defendants' religious beliefs. It's none of my business.

However the day you cannot refuse service in a private business is a very dark day indeed. I sincerely hope the appeal rules in favour of private business.

The cake wasn't for a gay wedding so they can't say it hurt their feelings. It was a slogan supporting gay weddings in general. They searched out a shop with Christian values and tried to get this rea

This is my issue too. The plaintiff wanted his rights to be respected but refused to recognise the rights of the baker to the point of a lawsuit.

AGREED...

If we were refused service somewhere we'd go to the next shop that offered what we wanted. Taking it to court is a c**t's trick. Trying to ruin a business because of their hurt feelings is pathetic.

They should be done for wasting the court's time.

Exactly, mate. This is the dark side of legislating against people's liberties.

I'm not a baker but I couldn't give a flying f*ck what you wanted on your cake. I'd make it but it'll be a sh*t cake because I'm not a baker. The point is that if you refuse me service for wanting an AR-15 on mine I'll just go to one of the literally thousands of other people that would do it without a fuss. I'm not going to bother the law because it's c*nt*sh.

I have the right to refuse you service just as much as you have the right to boycott my business. I don't need a reason and neither do you.
