Mark_mjs93 164
Come on then, let's here 'em. Favourite TV series and Films and why? I have worked on several films myself and I have a great love for both film and television. It will never beat the thrill of getting on in field but I love film and television. For me. Films: Saving Private Ryan - Just a fantastically shot film, the little factors that make it unique like the use of amputees for realism and the stripping of camera lenses to give the gritty feel 50 cups of coffee (Short film) - a very well shot story in a very limited set/ location The perks of being a wallflower. - I have a great love of film that characterises Mental health so well and the scene where we witness the lead character's mental breakdown is so fantastically characterised and shot that it really has to be in my top 10. Cabin in the woods - A generally brilliant comedy/horror/thriller/scifi film that addresses so many codes and conventions of modern horror films whilst staying relevant. Plus a brilliant and believable cameo from Sigourney Weaver for those conspiracy fans out there TV Series: Peaky Blinders - Constant references to the BSA factory and brilliant attention to detail in the mise en scene. Black Mirror - A brilliant mind game of a series. Don't have to watch it in order for it to make sense and the series addresses a lot of serious modern issues including the *ahem* PM pig scandal and also various other interesting storylines that would appeal to many. I would HIGHLY recommend "White Bear" to you guys, I reckon you will all like that one! I have so many others and I actually qualified in this field, but I like to hear what everyone else likes and why. So have at it.
Kerny92 1,246
Films - Schindler's List, Shawshank Redemption, Jaws, Interstellar. Series - Game of Thrones, True Detective series 1. All of the above are great watches, i can't pick one over the other.
scothunter 12,609
To many to mention and this thread has been done numerous times. Blacklist is my current series on my top list. Walking dead well that has become pure shite and needs wrapped up now. Same shitty plotline over and over again. Find a home another group comes fight each other few get killed. Move map n meet another group fight few get killed etc etc etc
Blackbriar 8,569
Films..... Operation Daybreak - true story, historically accurate and filmed in the locations where the events actually took place. Planes, Trains and Automobiles - just because it's a great laugh, which is all you need from a comedy film ! Tyrranosaur - a bleak film that's not easy to watch, but with towering performances by Olivia Coleman and Peter Mullen, in the central roles. TV........... Got to be Homeland - tightly plotted, full of twists and turns, topical beyond belief. Clare Danes brilliantly shows the vulnerable, human side of her character. The only TV series that makes me sit up straight and pay attention !

Born Hunter 17,763
Off the top of my head... TV series; GoT, need I really explain? Outlander, great cross genre drama. Daredevil/Punisher/Jessica Jones, very dark style, not funny or typical Marvel at all. Battlestar Galactica, loved the themes and the characters and the mythology. Honorary mentions: Blindspot, Longmire, Dark Angel, Sons of Anarchy, Vikings, Black Sails. Films: Jurassic Park/The Lost World, I love the concept and the animatronics just wish it had been more of a horror with greater suspense and gore. Independence Day, epicness! Sicario/Wind River/Hell or High Water, modern day gritty Westerns. Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, proper comic book shit. Honorary: Cloverfield Paradox, Interstellar, Stargate, Transformers. Enjoyed daredevil, punisher and even on some level Luke cage but couldn't get in to Jessica Jones Is that Cloverfield paradox really worth a watch? And I never thought in a million years I'd be seeing transformers on your list mate lol Edited April 24, 2018 by dave88

And I never thought in a million years I'd be seeing transformers on your list mate lol Jess Jones is behind DD and Punisher I agree but I didn't reckon that much to Luke Cage, it was worth watching mind, and thought Iron Fist was pretty shit. Cloverfield Paradox I watched a week or two ago, didn't really know anything about it other than a brief synopsis and had not watched any of the other cloverfields. Yeah, I really liked it. I like a sci-fi thriller though, Managed to really get my focus. Similarly another recent Netflix film, starring Natalie Portman I enjoyed was Annihilation. Better still, with Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, Arrival. Transformers, LOL. Yeah a guilty pleasure. There just aren't many modern day films that do the military hardware shots like the first couple of Transformers films. Bay has a knack for it. I couldn't care for the franchise, just the first couple or three films. Indulgent shit but I like it. Black Hawk down similarly, just way less BIG hardware scenes. The companion series Fear the walking dead is pretty good and worth a watch...even if you know nothing about the walking dead Edited April 24, 2018 by dave88
