ChrisJones 7,975
A 19-year-old woman has been found guilty of 'sending an offensive message' after posting rap lyrics to her Instagram account. Chelsea Russell posted the lyrics to her account to pay tribute to a young lad that had been killed in a road accident. The content was passed to a specialist hate crime unit and the constable in charge found the lyrics 'grossly offensive.' It actually went to trial and the 19-year-old was found guilty! Quote District Judge Jack McGarva said: “There is no place in civil society for language like that. Everyone with an Instagram account could view this content. The lyrics also encourage killing and robbing, so are grossly offensive.” Russell was sentenced to an 8-week curfew and has to wear an electronic tag. She was fined £500 with a £85 surcharge!! sussex 5,777
Obviously the police and judiciary have totally eliminated all other major crime and are keen to show they are now busy working on lower level offenders..Police down here we’re doing house to house enquiries to find out how a hedgehog accidentally got caught in a rodent trap ....I kid you not . 2 1 2

walshie 2,804
Some stupid judge recently did say it's the actual words that make something offensive regardless of context. I assume all these people who call each other the n word will be arrested shortly,
Born Hunter 17,751
The criminal words were ‘kill a snitch n**** and rob a rich n****.’ Interestingly I've possibly just committed a criminal act posting them. Anyway, so, in our brilliant modern society, the pinnacle of human civilisation, it's illegal to say the word 'nigger' (completely un-directed at anyone no less, simply quoted ffs!) but it's totally fine to 'incite' murder and robbery? Anyone that supports this, don't ever claim your right to freedom of speech, you simply don't believe in it. 5

Mister Gain 1,764
Just had a look on youtube for the old nursery rhyme "eeny meeny miny moe", and they have even changed that to "catch a TIGER by the toe"... not surprised though.
THE STIFFMEISTER 15,615
Wonder if you are actually allowed to say it on a record now then ? As in jay z or Kanye or anyone else , will they be allowed to use it or sell their wares in the uk now?
walshie 2,804
Can you still call someone a wigger or are rhyming words not allowed?
Born Hunter 17,751
To be honest this shit needs taking all the way to the top before it gets totally out of hand. Someone needs to take these cases to the Supreme Court and put it to bed what type of democracy we want to be.

Mate, as it stands at the moment, if you say anything that offends someone then you are playing with fire. With this sort of legislation we are totally at the mercy of the political leanings of the judge. Frankly, half the members on here should probably be doing a 20 year stretch each for what has been said over the years. There's no difference other than the platform, one is a public picture sharing app and one is a public hunting forum. If the tyrant PC Walker read this forum, some members would be in court.
