CushtyJook 1,097
Just put loads of new hedging in beech I think what's best to controll the weeds before I put the woodchip down was gonna spray it of with gylosiphate weed killer as I been told but carefully not touching the hedges just wanted to see what others thought first as the picture doesn't show the full scale of it to go and do by hand would Take a few days as it's all round my boundary and is a few thousand feet all together Edited April 19, 2018 by CushtyJook

Chid 6,540
There not dead and as long as you don’t touch the foliage with the weed killer it’ll do no harm to the beech

jok 3,266
Eh up Cushty. Looking good. Now, a question. When beech sets in a natural environment, who goes round spraying? Answer. No one. Why don't you leave well alone and strim as and when ? Your planting a take a bit longer than most to leaf up but by the end of May it should be looking good. I agree by the way, lol. Spec savers might have been an idea. Jok.

jok 3,266
There's a weed killer called Headland, or there used to be. Might be your best option if it's still about. How's things round Corby way? Jok.
gnipper 6,484
Beech don't suffer with roundup touching the bark like some trees do and if your careful you should be able to spray under the branches. We do row upon row of them with a boom sprayer at work. You could trim a few of the lower branches off to make it easier.
