Made A New Knife

Recommended Posts

Got a few blades and knife making bits off the wife for crimbo what i asked for  from Brisa so had a go at making a knife .This is the second knife ive had a go at making the first was from bits of wood and metal i had lain about made a few small mistakes that hopefully i will not make next time .I was going to use some fallow antler that i found when out with the dogs with Tomo&Max but it wasen't solid enough in the middle so i will use it for stick handles or something .These shop bought blades are fecking sharp got a cut on my leg to prove it :icon_redface: and i taped the blade up a few pic's.

The wood is curly birch and maple a bit of cow bone buffalo horn and red fiber and a Lauri 77 blade

:notworthy: thats well tidy matey.Curly birch is beautiful stuff, and if you shop around at fairs, you can usually get some nice bits of cowhorn [tips] which are ideal for this use. They come in allsorts of colours ranging from white, through to black, speckled etc, but the butterscotch colour is the prettiest. Also keep an eye out for coloured buffalo horn....its rare, but beautiful . Check this guy out he,s a top fella.

WELL NOBBY ,

THATS A GREAT LITTLE KNIFE MATE  ................... BE FECKIN WARNED ITS ADDICTIVE

THE CURLY BIRCH IS BLOODY LOVELY STUFF , I TREAT MY HANDLES WITH DANISH OIL ..... THE COLOURS IN THE BIRCH ARE REALLY SOMETHING AS THEY ARENT MASKED BY STAINS ............

YEP THEY ARE FECKIN SHARP ......... TRY THE PROGRESSIVE TEMPERED BLADES FROM LAURI ... NOW THEY ARE SHARP :icon_eek: !!!

THE ANTLERS OF OUT SPECIES ARENT REALLY SUITABLE FOR KNIFE MAKEING , AS THEY ARE ONLY SOLID IN THE TIPS HOWEVER IT CAN BE DONE BY FLOODING WITH SUPER GLUE .... PERSONALLY I REALLY LIKE WORKING WITH MOOSE AND ELK

ALL THE BEST
