Poor dog, hows it go "a dogs not just for Christmas"

Please dont insult my intelligence. I'm not going to apologise for putting my child first. Save your cliches until you know what the full circumstances are.

I've identified the issue and am putting it right the way i think to be best. Alternatively, if anyone wants to pop over to help me out please feel free.

he is a stunner though, always draws comments.

And don't insult mine! :censored: you quite clearly "didn't think it through" before you took the dog on.You made a mistake, and now the dog is being "moved on".A little more thought before you put yourself and the dog in this situation might have avoided this.Highly strung gundog and young child, well self explanatory really. The issue is,you looked after a dog, thought,"i'd quite like one of them",it didn't work out and now your trying to recoup, your initial outlay in the dog.Me i'd find a good home for the dog, give it away foc,and learn from it.You can do as you wish, its a free country, and unfortunately on a public forum, you will find cynics like me,who are allowed to voice there opinions.Happy new year.

Hi Eurwyn, sorry to hear that its not working out with him, but i'm not in a position to take him back off you as much as i would like to have, my reason for selling him was to spend more time with his sister to get her up to standard and this is still ongoing. I 'll ask around to try my best to get the dog a good working home, unfortunatley for you that he's not bonded with the boy, gwps are very loyal dogs and i find this a bit unusual.

If any one is intrested in giving this gwp a loving working home, you can get in touch with me as i bred the dog and have his sister, mother, and half brother all exceptional workers of all game on land and water, he is very well bred with his father being a first danish import who has only lined my bitch.

Finally a message to kreet if theres a will theres a way, there are people who move dogs around the country on transporters, this dog will give you the best 12 years of your life why has cost got to come into it, i paid 500 for the dam as a 6wk old pup and travelled 6 hours for her the best money and time i've ever spent.

Well I'm going to put my size "6's" in here and expect to be bawled out but I cannot believe bowderdale's attitude to a dog he bred...... Yes that may be the reason that you decided to place the dog, in what now seems not to be the most ideal home (of just 2 months) but you as the breeder must take the responsibility to ensure that he ends up in a suitable home. Surely you have the room and the time to take him back for the time being - your brought him into this world and surely you have some feelings for him???

Any puppies that are bred by us are covered by a contract that for any reason the new owners cannot keep them they are to be returned to us. Yes it may be inconvenient but as breeders that is our responsibility to make room for them and find them a new home.

First off, i couldnt give a monkeys what you think about me as a breeder, i dont do it for the money unlike some members of the gwp society and charge obscene amounts for pups. This is not a buisness, They were bred for own use. As for room well, i currently have 20 dogs in kennels at the moment, i am activley searching for a home for him since i found out (on this site ) that he was for sale, problem is its the wrong time of year and the dogs in wales now, but i am trying to do the right thing and find him a goodworking home.

OK, this is descending into farce, with some insults being bandied about. Let me clarify the following.

I e-mailed the breeder to offer back on a 1st refusal basis on the 28th - shortly before placing on here (so no, he was informed before he saw this post).

If he can't re-home, well so be it - I can't force him into it.

I've been off ill for the past 6 weeks since buying the dog, and have spent more or less each waking minute of the day with him. I have seen, how for the same period, my boy has lavished love and affection on the dog and has tried in vain to play with him, only to watched him being rejected day after day in favour of my wife and I. I have watched him try to dominate the boy in an effort to take his place and have made efforts to include the dog in all aspects of family life as well as to teach the boy about dogs in general, and also to teach the dog about his role in our household. He remains firmly aloof with my child.

Now, what am I suposed to do? Grin and bear it for the next twelve years just for the sake of pride? Or do I swallow it and say, this (altogether otherwise fantastic dog, handsome, biddable with supreme strength and stamina and striking good looks) dog needs to go to a more suitable home for his own welfare and development. I reckon I know which one is the best option for all.

'm not going to get into any slanging matches with anyone. I knew exactly what the temperamanent of this breed was and having 'fostered' one a few years back and had contact with several others over the years I was of the opinion that they were ideally suited to my son's age group as well as my own needs. Don't criticise me for getting it wrong. I have the balls to stand up and admit so.

I couldn't give a monkey about you either - my feelings are for a dog that you bred and sold and for whatever reason the owner isn't going to keep him you should be " as a breeder of any breed" be in a position to take him back - it's not as if he's left your premises that long ago. I don't do it for the money either and it's not a business for myself - our puppies are bred for our own use too but the surplus puppies do have to go into homes and that's where you have to be responsible for them - if only breeding was that easy to book the birth of the only puppy you require!

Whether you have 20 or 30 dogs in your kennels that's no fault of this puppy and I'm pleased that you are actively searching for a home for him.

whatever your thoughts on this subject are, the dog still needs rehoming. I have heard nothing from the breeder I bought him off so this is well and truly my problem to sort out.

Hi Bob, your box is full so here's the mai li was going to send you:-

Hi bud,

I think my 5y.o is this dog's downfall. From what I know now- if he wasn't around the dog would live to a ripe old age with us- but there we are.

He's only just gone 7 mths so still very exciteable. He is a pet and doesn't work so please take it into account. Having said that though he could run the field all day and looks magnificent when he's on to something. I though it was a little early to start him when I firtst bought him, however he's got the stamina and looks.

I'm not sure what it is with the kid. However, I'm ot taking a chance, whatever some of these aholes say.

£300 ono secures this champ. He really is good and has lots to develop.

You are obviously doing the right thing for your dog if its not working out. Better to get it sorted now than in a few months time when the dog is much more settled. What I find more disturbing is the fact that the breeder of your dog has obviously not kept in contact with you over the first couple of months of having this dog even if it is just to 'check in' and see if everything is ok .

Bowderdale why are you needing to tell Eurwyn on a forum that you have found the dog a home?? Surely you have been in touch with him on the phone to offer support and see what the issue is???

I'm sorry I am sure you will not like my comments but all breeders have a reponsibility to continue to offer support to owners after the dog has left their premises not just when they see it on an open forum :(

Get in the real world.... if some one has a problem with a puppy they should make contact with the breeder not the other way round as stated when the pups are picked up, i have bred two litters of gwps and know where everyone of them is and how they are doing 25 in total. As for doing it on an open forum the thread is making this problem out to be my fault somehow. This is very simple i have found a suitable working home for the dog and if this is to be taken up by the current owner its up to him to get in contact with me.
