College ?  Doing well ?  university ?  not acting like a f***ing idiot?  Dare I say it the army ?  The world is your oyster at 16 /17 with no ties or obligations

Are these people genetically predisposed to turn every place they live into a shithouse?......history certainly points that way !

The fact of the matter is that this is probably NOT a waste of young life or potential......closer to the truth is that they were probably involved with street gangs themselves. As for national s

Companies like Heinnie Haynes could go under because of this legislation. They check you are over 18 before they send you a knife anyway. Why should companies suffer because some wannabe gangster takes his mum's kitchen knife out with him? (And still will.)

Gotcha! :good:

I can't argue with that, mate, I'm just surprised they've gone straight for the legislative jugular. It's the highest profile for sure but without tackling all the usual sh*t that they fail to tackle it's just more laws that they're completely incapable of enforcing. Just like the current ones. If they were a corporation they'd have gone bankrupt many times over.

Exactly ! It gives the appearance of being tough on crime................

...................while completely ignoring the reasons behind it !   The good old "government crackdown" makes a nice 6 o'clock headline, at very little cost. Initiatives to weaken gang culture, for instance, take longer and cost more. As I've said, what's needed is long term strategies to reduce future criminality but, equally importantly, measures to prevent some young lad from being stabbed tonight !
