Permission

I've just found this, it may be of some help to some.

Print, dowload, cut and paste, whatever. I'm sure a letter based on a recognised police document will do the job for those of you wanting to confirm your permission in writing in the event you are stopped the your local constabulary.

Well, I Like that, Lord B! In fact, I'd prefer one like that, to what I have, be I shooter or shot over.

Over here (Eire) it appears to be (to me) that a man just assumes 'your permission' to wander willy nilly, gun in hand, unless ye go to the trouble of hanging " No Shooting - Land Preserved " signs in every gate - as my neighbours do. (Then invite me to wander ... )

I got my own chit, apparrently, on the strength of four signatures, allowing me maybe 1K acres? Only yesterday I was out on my regular patch and, to my abject horror, tracked a white motor as it slid along some far off road I honestly had no prior knowledge of!

Well out of 'Lethal' range of my own calibre, of course. But a spent round 'falling' against that windscreen? If it broke his glass on a horizontal plane, I'll bet they'd soon excuse his speed for my 'Bad Shot'. I'd lose my lisence before he lost his.

Just makes me think: That's a nice 'Covering Note'. I just wonder how the more switched on guys view it, compared with the available Shooters Insurance deals ....?

I think thats a standard form they use in scotland for FAC's.

It is, I have used it in the past for our farm near Frt William. It covers all the points likely to be raised should anyone be unfortunate to be stopped the the boys in blue.

Answer all those points and there is nothing they can come back at you with. The information on such a form, coupled with proof of adequate insurance in the form of a membership card for BASC / CA and the like will have them on their merry way soon enough without any trouble.
