hedge wanderer 51
Right, so Was thinking a fun discussion to start would be a one when people talk about their favourite gun and what makes it your favourite. Doesn't have to be your absolute best or pricey gun just the one you like the most for certain reasons such as an heirloom, first gun or has a story behind it. obviously show pics and let us see what you've got ? Meece 1,957
I have numerous very nice guns to chose from but two I like. The first is a Beretta 20g that my late mother bought as a present for me. It is a toy and I have even shot it one handed. It just fits right. Everyone who has shot it loves it and many have asked to buy it. A friend even asked to have it bequeathed to him should I kark it. The second is a bit of a worn AyA #4 which I was given by my brother-in-law when he gave up when cabinets became required. I have known this gun from about 1970 and it has been through several hands. The gun has pitted barrels and a bit of clack in the jointing but I often go to this gun because I shoot well with it and it knocks stuff down well. A nice wet day gun. I've got an 8 shot Mossberg 500 that I like. The list would be long. I LIKE LOTS OF THEM two of the Beretta and the other pic is of two XXIV 's the front one is the AyA #4 that I was given by my Brother in law Edited March 31, 2018 by Meece Quote Link to post
hedge wanderer 51
Any photos mate. Don't have any 20 bores (yet?) but absolutely adore the beretta o/u 20bores. I think the scale is just right not compared to some 12s which always look big and bulky when beside a 20 on the wall. They always look like lovely guns to walk around for hours with. Love the look of 28 and 410 doubles for the same reason. anyone else feel free to share Quote Link to post
Meece 1,957
I have started a thread >> Show your guns where some pictures have been posted. I just love all aspects of the gun as a work of art both mechanical and as a possession. over on that thread I have posted pics of my 20g SbS Edited March 31, 2018 by Meece Quote Link to post
hedge wanderer 51
Just seen photos as now using my phone. Don't show on iPad. Although I own a few guns including a practically unused Webley 712, I have to say my favourite of the lot is a bsa bolt action 410 with lee Medford/enfield bolt system, which is also the second shotgun i ever bought. Made in the late thirties and one of the last ones. Had a strange a strange bead placement on the barrel, being roughly an inch from the muzzle with a groove just past the bead. Eventually found out that, as it was made in the thirties the barrel had been on these guns was 23", being shortened from the 24" in the 20s which had been shortened from the 25" of the earliest guns. Obviously after the war and its new shotgun laws, some crafty bloke has clearly made a barrel extension for it, taking it to 24 1\4". Lovely little gun for walking about with in the evenings. Love to think who owned it first, maybe a farm boys gun from his father and who made the barrel longer Rabbit shot at roughly 40 yards. One or 2 bits of shot in the napper haha and an ad from the back of 'the bsa air rifle book, 1909' Edited March 31, 2018 by hedge wanderer 1 Quote Link to post
Stavross 15,165
Favourite rifle is my marmite rifle, love it or hate it, it’s my Browning.17 HMR t bolt, shortened, synthetic stock with mag holder, full left hand with MTC viper scope ( a cheapie but a goodie ) my mate won’t even pick this up as he thinks it’s a pointless round, but for me it’s perfect for 120 + yard rabbits on a night due to how flat it flys, no need to worry about bullet drop just put it in the cross hairs and squeeze the bang switch, favourite shotgun is my Browning B525 30” the pigeons should feel privileged to be shot at by this little bit of posh Quote Link to post

hedge wanderer 51
Tbh I've heard good thing Bout the escort. Out of curiosity what is giving you this opinion. I'm guessing jamming issues? Quote Link to post
Stavross 15,165
It will not cycle light cartridges, it will cycle 36g all day long, but seen as it is predominantly a pigeon gun this is no good to man nor beast, nobody wants to eat a pillow cased pigeon Quote Link to post
hedge wanderer 51
Ah fair one mate. No way of making the action lighter/smoother to cycle the 28s/32s? Don't know a whole lot about semi autos Quote Link to post
Stavross 15,165
No, with it been a gas cycle you would think changing the seal would help, sadly this is not the case with this Poundland shotgun, I’ll just put it down to experience and if I want another semi I’ll go for the Browning Quote Link to post
hedge wanderer 51
Ah I see. I have heard good words about Brownings. Very reliable from what I've been told. Always loved the vintage 'humpbacks' but they're heavy f*****s haha 1 Quote Link to post
Stavross 15,165
I’ve used a browning maxus and loved it, I’ve always been a bit of a beggar for a plastic gun, I’ve never been one for sitting and polishing my wood ? Quote Link to post
