Jonnyb6161 80
Thanks for all the advice guys, especially Si. I decided to go with a TbT drop-in kit. It went in easily enough (I had to take 1mm off the end of the spring guide). I'll chrony it tomorrow and see how it does. 1 Quote Link to post
Jonnyb6161 80
TbT kit fitted no problem. Tried to chrony it this morning but it wouldn't cock. Iv'e removed both preload washers and it shoots beautifully with no excessive vibration and no horrible twang. Unfortunately, it chronys at 13.1Ft/lb. I don't want to take the slip washer out (I doubt it would be enough anyway) so it looks like I need to cut a coil off. Will it affect the temper of the spring? Quote Link to post

Expand Not if the spring is done right Jonny you will need a blow torch and a bench grinder cut off a coil at a time then heat it until it glows red us a pair of pointed pliers and crimp the cut coil and the next coil together then use the grinder to flatten the cut coil down use a strait edge to make sure the coil is flat and strait all the way round then replace and see what she crono,s at then . by the sound of it it will need the spring cut . atvbjimmy ps,,forgot to mention polish the spring edge as well with some dry wet and dry Quote Link to post
Jonnyb6161 80
I cut a coil off and managed to get down the range yesterday. Glad to report that the twang has gone and it is shooting as sweet as a nut at about 11.3 ft/lbs. Thanks for all the advice guys. Quote Link to post
