poxon 5,751
I wait till there fully mature say 12months before lamping them I like to get them pinning to nets as young as possible to build confidence. Dropping rabbits to a young dog teaches them nothing bar putting pressure on all muscle An joints that are not fully formed plus you could potentially be setting your pup up for failure with a dog that’s not mentally ready in turn createing a yapper or if your in to much a rush without putting the time in with retrieve work it’ll all go out the window on a unmentaly ready pup 6 Link to post

Kerny92 1,246
If you're struggling to get runs in the area get it out on the lamp or try and find someone with good permission. Where about are you from? I've never needed droppers but can't see it doing any harm, it's your call. Link to post
socks 32,253
Asking when a dog is ready is like asking how long is a piece of string. They are all completely different and even litter mates will be ready to start at different ages. Dogs mature mentally And physically at different rates and there will never be a set time there will be youngsters that can a handle a few runs at 7 months for example then there will be others that won't be ready until their over 12 months. Watch how the dog moves and turns and runs when it's playing look at how physically capable it is and how mentally ready it is ... if your happy with all of these points give it a couple of easy slips if your not then wait a while until it is ready ...... 13 Link to post
