trapliner 92
Always cut six inch out of the bottom of plastic pipe so they are running on soil rather than plastic they don’t seem to like traveling on plastic must be something to do with grip 2 Quote Link to post

And then we rested them in a channel lined with sand . I was also told they don’t like traveling on plastic but the rabbits burrowed in and around it and given it a bit of “air conditioning “ which I don’t think Charlie likes . I think if I’d done what you did it would have been a better job . You live and learn ! Quote Link to post
nick703 447
Didn't cut the bottom out of our plastic pipe due to not wanting anything extending it, our brick ones are solid floor also just quarter fill with muck to give the natural feel, also cut your plastic pipe in 2ft lengths as a dig is not always in the chamber and you need some sharp bends , something to slow the terrier down for a clear shot. 4 Quote Link to post

rob284 1,682
I know of a place thats always holding and thats plastic ribbed pipe, not cut in half and the quarry knows its safe midtube, you need a saw with you. Quote Link to post
Archi 46
Put quite a few in years ago using just plastic grey plastic pipe into a brick den with concrete slabs top and bottom. they often held and were easy to break into and repair if needed. Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Best artificials here are the ones made of old foot round clay pipes with soil in the bottom. W shaped with oven in the V .Straight runs hold too depending on wind direction .One of the farms I do has two artificial from a bygone pirate pack that hold in prefeference to 3 old badger setts .No rhyme to it really. Only criteria seems to be peace and quiet and not tried too often . Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
We put one in last Summer on a beck that has no earths near it , we made the tubes with half round roof tiles and made a bed from a 2x3 paving slab and have had 3 out of it over the Winter. Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Ridge tiles now theres a thought .Got loads saved over the years .Did you raise them at all . Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
We just dug the trench out, then put a tile on the bottom then another one upside down on top of it to make a circle. Just be sure to pack them in tight when you backfill them and they won't move. Edited March 31, 2018 by Rabbit Hunter 2 1 Quote Link to post
Wheatens 107
I use clay flue liners with 4 or 5 bends. Dig it in the right place and you'll get the foxes. 1 Quote Link to post
