Mixedgrill 704
When experienced dog or bitch make mistakes ie. Losing game on the odd occasion and finding it hard to being able to correct it do you turn a blind eye to it and keep them at it or do you draw the line.... It's happening with one I have here with the season well and truly over I'm starting to think about it ...he's a fair dog with a lot of hunting over him but a mistake is a mistake.. out of interest how many lads would crack on and forget about it and put it down to knowing what they have Quote Link to post

Mixedgrill 704
Tell me about it. this only started this season and I was for lining a bitch with him now I can't bring myself to to do it Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Depends on the seriousness of the 'mistake' and is it turning into a common thing? Any dog that is dug enough will miss or have off days, as long as they're a rarity then don't worry about it. Quote Link to post

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Are you saying he found then for whatever reason he lost touch and couldnt' find again despite extensive searching or did he he come away after a quick half hearted search after losing. The first is annoying but the second is the start of a full Jack ime .The former can be put down to quarry digging away fast and walling in with the earth caked in scent afterwards .Go back another day same dog and you will have it. They are not machines mate despite what some believe .Would rather go back and have it than really do your head in trying to desyfer what the dogs doing wrong . 8 Quote Link to post
Pirate 9000 676
There is not many dogs out there that never miss no one wants it to be come a habit, end of day there dogs not machines, also some lads work more challenging earths than others, mate of mines dog missed a great big ranging earth last season put is hand up said animal was better than the dog today, dog hasn't missed this season. 1 Quote Link to post

neil cooney 10,416
Was it at the tail end of the season or though out ? Fair play though, a lot of lads would have had enough after once ,which, IMO is silly. 3 Quote Link to post

Yes I agree Neil, they are the type that chop and change blood, never have a decent dog in their yard and slate any line they can. 2 Quote Link to post
