i had a show whippet few years ago, only 20" tts and weighed 30 pound, worked rabbits all night long, then out with ferret next morning.also took couple foxes

Alot of people i know said they weren`t hardy enuf????????. my little dog run a rabbit under a plough one night, split his head like a coconut, while carrying him back to mates land rover he spotted a rabbit and was going nuts trying to get from my arms to get at it.

To look at them you wouldnt think it BUT theyre hard as nails and will go on and on working, theyre so keen you have to put a stop on it or theyd work their guts out. They work the thickest brambles and will always know if theres anything in there, they dont lie. They dont get cold and their appetite is legend.Thats mine anyway. He stood without a sound while I stitched up his torn leg. Then when I werent looking he ripped them all out.Brilliant little dogs. :toast: to them.

the ones i seen are ok if rabbit under their feet but dont have that extra burst for long slips causing some to get frustrated and yap..maybe it was just ones i seen run, just my opinion.

Under their feet ? a good whippet searches out and runs to catch and kill and return to hand, never opens up as he s never frustrated.Mike Browns whippets brilliant workers. You have to put a hell of a lot of time into it , a dog will usually return the amount of time you spend with him by hunting well. Not just rabbit although they put on a fair bit of speed.

dont have extra burst?????!!!! better go tell mine that then!! :tongue2: they have hearts of lions!!! so much dog in a small package, its all down to the training on how much they will work , put the time and effort in and you will be more than rewarded, mine ring back live to hand and very soft mouthed, a pleasure to work and own, the youngest worker yipped once but since hasnt , i cant have a yipper!! :whistling: lamp goes out she knows to get straight back in that motor too , no calling her and alerting anyone , now working nicely with ferrets and very keen , more than proud of her and even more so when i show what she can do then say , yes she is great and i bred her
