Greyman 28,914
I shoot the rats on the feeders with a pcp air rifle, excellent urban sport, have had three new species in the garden brought in by the cold, 1 field fare, 2 Siskin ,3 gold crest, also a big possie of long tail tits around not new but lots more than the normal group, also gave a homeless bloke a bag of hot pakoras and a couple of quid the other day so all round loving the snow

The other year i saw a hawk swoop onto a sparrow using the gàrden feeder. The poor sparrow had a look of .... o no, this is not going to end well. This is nature at its cruelest. It is and I don't mind feeding them, to be honest, it's just that they bully out the other birds. 5 hours ago, Gilbey said: just have a very rare visit from a sparrowhawk here We get the Cooper's Hawk here which is very similar. I might let the dog out again and see if we can get the eagles circling!

sussex 5,777
The feeders have been mobbed this year , blue , great , coal and long tailed tits , gold finches , redpolls chaff and green finch (although not seen as many as other years ), spotted woodpeckers , nut hatches sparrows , dunnocks to name a few . The bird feeders are just out the back of the barn and close to a big hedge , I’d hate to think how many hours get wasted watching the comings and goings ..The spar puts in an occasional visit , it lasts just a few seconds and normally ends in a puff of feathers for some small bird not keeping an eye out ... edited to say the pictures aren’t perfect because they were taken with the iPad through my bins , tricky holding everything still ..
