New BSA Defiant Bullpup

Recommended Posts

It is indeed there first pup, suppose they've got to follow the crowd I suppose. Some marketing man at BSA would of said, "we need a pup...! Make it happen."

However. That trigger guard shape and install looks f'kin wank... Absolute 60 quid Bear Griles Gamo that is. Is it like that on the images I posted the other day?! Now Im seeing it like your sample there... Im not that sure.

Its like the back end has had some thought, then they go bored... and for a grand... :D

I met with the BSA rep today in the rfd, he was carrying a case with him. It took me ten seconds to ask if that was a Defiant, it was.

My first thought were that it was very heavy although slightly better in the shoulder, it doesn't sit anywhere near as nicely as the Wildcat in the shoulder, when carrying my Wildcats (when I had them) and my Impact, both simply hang down from the hand which makes them very comfortable to carry but the Defiant hangs almost upside down putting quite a strain on your wrist.

The rep said the shot count was 120 but they had 140 during testing so this could be a first when BSA produce a gun which actually has a higher shot count than they publish, it is usually the other way around.

One thing I did like was the cocking lever, perfect position, slightly longer movement but no issue and the mag position is well placed but I forgot to ask if it uses the same mag, pity he didn't have one with him so I could have popped into the range on site to try it out.

At a price of £1050, would I buy one, not a chance. They are trying to compete with the likes of FX Wildcat and others in the same family but to me this was not to be compared with rifles in that price range. I see Redbeck are discounting the gun already, hmmmm.

Thanks for all your replies they have helped me a lot. I've just seen the laminate version and it has tempted me but not sure if its worth the money, as many of you have stated

Do I like the look if the BSA Defiant Bullpup?  No.  But then I do not like bullpup Rifles.  The looks of any Rifle are not that important for me, how it fits and how comfortable it feels is.  And if most was honest, I would say the end result of the pellet a the target end is the most important factor.  Do I wish BSA well and hope that the rifle is a success?  Hell yes, it is British jobs we are talking about.

In just my opinion that is.

All the very best for one and all

I will say that if I could have the bottle conversion and something better than the flimsy bit of wire trigger extension, I could be tempted but the cocking lever / bolt is in a crazy position, like picking ear wax. It needs a dedicated design such as the ill fated BSA or far far better FX Wildcat / Impact which have a superb trigger system.
