archiekale 427
Three of us went ferreting today as we are still trying to get plenty done while we still can.The first hedge we ferreted was hard to net as it was on a bank side and had not been done by us before. We got that done by 1300 and had 5 rabbits peter and ian spooked a fox from up a tree covered in ivy which just walked off ..We then had a dinner break and went a few miles away to finish a hedgerow we never got finished last week.On entering the field we saw where the farmer said some poachers had been stuck in a 4x4 while riding round. They were probably after the deer and hares thats why he wont give anyone permission (no trust) genuine hunters tarred with the same brush. We netted all the easy holes we could on this hedge and put in the ferrets and the first bit we did nothing bolted. So we moved to the far end and the rabbits started to bolt and some back netting. There were only three digs off this hedge and we had a total of 9 rabbits from it.So ended the day with 14 rabbits. 3rd pic is were the fox was laid up Edited February 26, 2018 by archiekale 2 Quote Link to post
stoggy 598
It was a good day out and thought we might have got a bit more snow than we did but it seemed to mostly miss us.Better company this ferreting season as well and when bolting rabbits to the guns felt a lot safer this year than previous years. 1 Quote Link to post
