The new Pro Sport .177 Walnut has landed.

Here she is lads. 

              Forgive the camera flash as it is giving a false picture - the stock is much darker than this but you can get the drift of that exquisite striping in the grain after I applied the first coat of Walnut oil.

             I`ll come back on a later date with daylight pictures and her set up to go.

Very handsome rifle.

Its defenately a "she".

 

A have a .22 walnut TX. Stock pattern looks almost the same.

I hope youll get along with that awkward aluminim catch. Never shot one, but I can imagine after a few hours of shooting that U-shaped catch will give sore fingers. I hope it doesnt.

BUT it certainly is one of the best lookin rifles out there.

Okay. Ehmm ..... I have the tx mk3 in .22.

"They" say the tx preforms at its optimum in 177. Is that true? I deliberately bought it in 22 for the softer shotcycle and heavier pellet (long range).

The weight issue....... isnt an issue for me. I like em heavy! 

I read that in the UK a lot of shooters adore the hw 50/99. But its a very light rifle. To me, it feels as if it transfers almost all the recoil to the shooters body. Thus much more movement than say.... a 77/97 or an 80. While the heavier rifles give me the impression they absorb more of the recoil.

Power wise the 50/99 is perfectly build for 12 fpe, but I reckon it would be even more nice to shoot if it would weigh as much as a 54 airking.

I'm on my 6th pro sport ,to be honest I don't know why I sold the other 5 ,but I go through a lot of air rifles in a year,nothing else to spend my money on them and my bops

I can tell you what spring rifle does perform best in .177.... The Walther lgv for sure, the thing with the 50/99 although a light rifle all the recoil (what there is of it) goes straight back rather than flip upwards like a 95, hence the 95 greatly benefiting from some weight at the muzzle ,  the 50/99 is a great little rifle to tune, I have done a few, but they are hard to get up to 12 fpe in .177 even though I am not a .22 fan at 12fpe even I have to admit that they do perform well in .22 and can be made very soft and smooth to shoot, I would like another crack at a .177 this time installing a full Vortek kit, but its a lot to shell out if the results are disappointing, I am afraid I cant live with a hunting air rifle that is not close to the limit, I like mine around 11.5-11.7 fpe, a rifle doing around 10-10.5 is no good to me.
