Because of this lack of will to see it through there is a good argument for such constitutionally ground shaking referendums to have to have a 2/3rds majority. 52% wouldn't have cut it and we'd have stayed in. 2/3rds seems to be a big enough majority for these sort of things to be done properly.

If we had got a 2/3 majority, the whining losers would say it should have been 75% to count. Over half will do me.

A 2/3rds majority is achieved when the political support is overwhelming, when the people are VERY motivated to see change. We're seeing right now how well a tiny majority works. It doesn't matter what the loosing side has to say in any case, what matters is how motivated the winning side are to see their representatives represent them. Any majority is certainly democratic, but I see now the value in the system of a 2/3rd majority as quite possibly the only practical option.

I believe in the US constitutional amendments require a 2/3rds majority in Congress.

Democracy is just an illusion, the country voted against its real leaders wishes and spoiled it for many people who are  in the systems, 'get out of jail free card' 'free ride forever' 'pass the buck the Europe express ' , Likely they thought that they would swing the vote narrowly their way and get the result that suited their eventual aims and agenda, which lets face it when you own and run all three or four horses in the race then likely you should win, however for once just once the people managed to speak and say what they as a majority wanted, which was out, narrowly as you like but out vote was cast

 

look since BREXIT, UKIP crumbled (no longer needed or fit for purpose), BNP EDL and all the other rag tag muppets simply back to being ignored all presently crumbling after peaking a while back lol for the first time in history we seeing the majoritys wished simply ignored and we are bombarded with news items telling us constantly what a mistake we have all made , loads of poles saying that if vote was taken again we would vote too remain lmao, constant news of how poor a deal we are being offered lol ( we have the right to tell them too take a running jump do we not? ) , current government in total disarray heading towards change of leadership possibly? somebody maybe more European focused lol

we are not leaving Europe its as simple as that , yes there will be noises made about it but ultimately change of leadership will soon sort that situation out methinks and all will be well again

I have said all along, the EU can’t and won’t afford to let us leave.

And if we do they will damage themselves just to make it worse for us.

As I see it, if it’s seen to be easy and we are seen to make it work then the EU know that will be the end of them......and any self inflicted pain is better than total collapse to them (jmho)

Once you start looking into these models you see how ridiculous they really are... These models are built around ever increasing immigration and only account for the black and white positives not the real life negatives also by default they are not sustainable... I'm sure you are aware of this BH but more people need to made aware of the scam.... Edit to clarify these latest models take into account less immigration caused by brexit hence the downturn... The more people you pump into the country the higher growth you get that's how they work.

Another thing I said at the start, they are going to inflict a LOT of pain on the ordinary bloke over this.

Nobody on this thread is going to see the positive end results from Brexit but your kids or grand kids just might and that’s the important thing to remember.

You don’t get rid of 40 plus years of terrible poison in 2 years....or even 5.

Its going to take a couple of generations, no doubt about it.

I genuinely hope that one day England will once again be a place where an ordinary bloke can work, support his family, prosper, feel patriotic, live in a decent society with decent people and not have the utter piss taken out of him or be treated like a f***ing slave to be used and abused in his own land.
