Rez 4,961
Our own Matt has added a post about gun porn... after a few pm's about which members we think bat for the other side, it got me thinking and watching the video he's linked in, the fist 5 mins is about semi autos... I know this is mainly US focused to now. So. Semi auto airguns... I'm not sure... they perhaps are the future, but do they fundamentally ignore the airgun origin? If you know what I mean. I don't know if I'd like airgunning as such, or hunting with an airgun, if I knew I could spit out 5 rounds super quick. Steyr's new model for example, plus what Giles is showing in his video there. I don't have an arguement against them, technically, but I think it takes that "...this shot has to count..." element out of the equation, as I know I could throw 2 or 3 super quick shots and knock the target down, and not really care where they hit. mattwhite 1,993
I'm in the fully manual camp personally Rez. It must be a psychological thing where I like to know I've loaded the pellet and like you said. If you miss you have to load again. Little bit of pressure. Even the hammer on the one Giles shows....i can see the fun in that in a "12 year old kid at heart" type of way. No denying it though. Some of that kit looks the dawgs? . Quote Link to post
The one 8,479
I can see them being handy if you need a follow up shot on a rabbit making for its burrow but other wise ?? Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
I own a HW100KT, it only takes one shot. 2 Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Not an air rifle, but my .22 rimmy is semi auto, and to be perfectly honest I find myself taking just as much care in the shot as a single shot rifle, and lets face it thats with a 100 ftlb 40 grn bullet, so no I dont think it would make a lot of difference. 1 Quote Link to post
just-A-snap 1,269
I had to learn to live with Digital Photography Rez mate, and now auto everything on mobile phones killing my trade. Do not like it but have to live with it. With the Air rifle being Semi Automatic one still has the choice when the finger is on the trigger when to squeeze it as it is still a single shot. But it is a mind set thing and I know and can see where you are coming from. All the very best for you and yours mate 1 Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
I watched this the other week and have been wondering if semi auto airguns will ever be used in the UK The only one iv seen in the UK is the Benjamin wildfire and it looked a fun pinker. Personally I like a nice traditional looking bolt action. Quote Link to post
