FairPlay to You Chris.

Without sounding nosey what did you do about it .

ie relocation

work ect ect

I took the money I'd saved for the house deposit and emigrated to America. I've been here since 2008. I figured at the time I was young enough, and my kids were young enough to have a solid crack at it. So far so good! :good:

Hello, im 73 and still in control of my bladder thank you very much, smash ya face in

In theory it's a good idea.....but in practice we don't have, and could never build enough houses to house the people we already have, never mind the ones corbyn wants to let in.  The majority of

We've got enough houses already we just have to many people.

How did you choose where in America to go?

Did you or the Mrs have any relations or friends over the pond ?

My Mrs is a local. Her folks are getting on a bit and she wanted to be closer to them which is why we chose southern Utah.

Government should bring in a cap as to what Landlorda can charge for each type of property and the cap should be pretty low .

They should also make the laws much more strict re standards and repairs and come down like a ton of bricks on landlords not up to standard.

Most lets are Fooking tips

Rent controls, bringing in legislation to improve the quality of rented accommodation and strengthening tenants rights are all in the Labour Manifesto

How many manifesto's re any party actually come to fruition ?

Its all sound bites and bullshit

Commitments like the ones in my previous post are easy to implement with a simple vote in the HoC and so if Labour got a majority you can put money on them happening, other manifesto commitments by all parties are admittedly harder to implement and so may take time, be watered down from the original commitment or dropped completely but the manifestos are the only guideline we have as to what the party will do in power so it makes sense to read them and vote for the one you agree with most surely?

We'd have stronger legislation forcing landlords to make sure their rentals were fit for human habitation right now if Labour had more MPs, twice since 2015 Labour have put forward bills to ensure that and both times they were blocked by the Tories...

As for renting and probably goin against the grain abit from a tennants point of view but it's got to be worth he hassle for people renting houses out as they should be allowed to charge the rent they want as if is too high pcm no one would pay it anyway so obviously the rent has to be in line with whatever the other rentals in that area.if renting out a house isn't profitable long term then what's the point in someone tying up there money up.there has to be financial gain.if rent is £700 To a tennant and the house they rent is worth £250,000 the owner would of had to have a buy to let mortgage so that's 40% deposit they have to put down so that's £100,000 the accountant will only be able to deduct the interest off the mortgage each year against the tax bill andI think I'm right n thinking you can't now deduct repairs against your tax.the mortgage on the house would be around £450pcm ish as the interest rate is lower because of the big deposit.so really inc the interest deduction all in all it I'd say their making £400 a month.not being funny but if my £100,000 tied up I want a good return.i might be completely wrong in some of my calculations but that's my two cents

I 100% agree there has to be laws about the condition of rental standards.the councils f****d the job selling off council houses,I think that should have been means tested also.i have a friend who has an income of £40,000 and his Mrs works lives for £120 a week in a council house.they should be made to move and let a family who need the help live there.

Long term will you stay in the area Chris or would you fancy somewhere else in USA

Is the job prospects and life chances good where you are ?

I'll be staying put. Everything I need is here.

Job prospects are good but I've worked with the same company pretty much since I've moved here and I don't feel the need to move on.

Eye course it did same as all these manifestos ?

To be fair manifestos are what the party wants to do while it's leading the democracy. It's the houses where it's hashed out and a compromise between representatives is sought. Manifestos can be brought to fruition but they're not usually democracies that do it.

WE'D have lol

I can just see it.

BIG GAY DAVE  running for Prime Minister lol

We are FOOKED if your likes are having a say in the future of our once Great Country?

You promised to give a Syrian Refugee a room along with Geldoff and Lily Allen .

Did that ever come to Fruition lol

Eye course it did same as all these manifestos ?

Yup, we as a country would have regulations forcing landlords to make sure the homes they were renting are fit for human habitation. Just a couple of posts ago you were saying how important that was and how the government should do something about it well Labour put forward a bill twice to do just that and the Tories blocked it. That's attempting to keep their manifesto pledges before they're even in government!

Show me where I promised to take in a refugee?

Have you put up a homeless soldier yet? ;)

Do you miss England at all Chris 'have you close family still here.

Saying that it's a small world nowadays re technology

It's free to talk face to face on phones ect nowadays with all the different social media outlets .

I think I'd try somewhere different if I was still early to mid 20s knowing what I know now.

I do miss certain aspects. Friends and family is a struggle but the world is a lot more connected and it certainly helps. @fellman was visiting over Christmas. I haven't seen him for a decade but we just picked up where we left off. My folks fly out to visit now they've retired and they save a fortune because they stay with us. My kids have benefited the most. They're probably a little naive compared to where they were born but they've been able to have decent childhoods and I still manage to spend a lot of time with them. The beauty of the cost of living being lower is that I can work my three fifteen hour shifts a week and then have the rest of the time off to spend with family, walking the dogs, shooting, fishing, etc... I have the option to work more but I don't have to. I have noisy neighbours but they're coyotes so they get a pass!

BGD you def banged on about giving a room to Syrians back in the day .

And I don't think I said I would give a soldier a room.

Although I might of said they deserve looking after along with our Own OAPs well before and economic migrants who are unchecked and unvetted.

Sort our own shit out first re NHS' Foodbanks ' Housing Shortsge ' Shit Nursing Hones' Homeless 'Unemployment before we even think about making it any worse never mind much worse.

I seem to remember saying I didn't have space in my own home and my rental properties are all occupied actually but I'd be happy for you to prove me wrong

Still no comment on the original point of the reply I see ;)

My origional point is most politicians are lying c**ts

Mosr are in it for themselfs

Most are not up to the job

And they couldn't give a monkeys about Joe Public or Great Britain.

No actually your original post was about conditons in the rental sector and how they need to be improved.

I then showed you Labour's plans to improve them.

You said well manifestos are all bullshit anyway and Labour wouldn't really do any of that.

I showed you that Labour have in fact put forward legislation to work towards improving conditions, attempting to implement at least part of their manifesto even though they're not actually in government, but were blocked by the Tories.

You started banging on about Lilly Allen and refugees.

See where we lost the thread of the discussion?

But anyway what's really important is why you haven't put up a homeless solider even though you claim to support our troops :hmm: Shameful!!

Supporting our troops ' OAPs

homeless ' Ect can be done in many forms

i have never said I would or could put up a homeless soldier.

They were your crocodile tears for the Syrian immigration wave if you remember.

You have rental property's you could put them up in but you choose to take rent instead.

Your another left wing hypocrite just like Allen and Geldoff ?

Still swerving then ;)

So I should turf out a hardworking family out of their home to make space for a refugee? Nope, won't be doing that I don't think it'd be right.

Like you say, supporting the troops, OAPs, the homeless and refugees can be done in many forms

Still I don't see why you couldn't at least take in a homeless solider over Christmas, it would be easy to get in touch with a charity and offer a warm bed and meal to a solider down on his luck but you chose not to  Really is shameful.
