Pest Controller new to forum

Recommended Posts

Merry Christmas, happy new year and all that jazz.

I've worked in pest control for the last four years after what seemed a lifetime of totally unconnected work. It paid the bills and mortgage and fed the kids who have now mostly flown the nest. Rabbiting was then a hobby. It's now part of my real job (how cool's that).

I'm now self-employed after setting up my own pest control business on the borders of Worcestershire and Herefordshire at the beginning of October.

I do the full range of pest control which includes what we like to call wildlife management which mainly consist of rabbits, squirrels and moles but could also include mink and foxes. I use traditional trapping, either spring or cage and snaring. At the moment probably 75% of work is moles and squirrels with the rest being rodents, contracts and occasional nuisance insects. As I run this as a business not a hobby the rats and insects get the pesticide treatment and only the wildlife get trapped as I have to be efficient and make a profit.

I'm looking forward to getting some hot tips from the trapping experts on this forum and maybe contributing some of my own ideas picked up from my four years in pest control.
