With 58grain bullets if I zero for 1 inch high at 100yds then im bang on at 200 yards So knowledge and experience shows you with your setup you have a 200yard zero! That also shows you that you can set a 200 yard zero by shooting at 100yards because you know at 200 yards with your setup you will be spot when you are 1" high at 100 yards. Common way of doing things, working backwards (you may actually have worked forward and found out by chance your zero actually is 200yards), but you need to set your true zero before you can work backwards. I have known people to set their 200 yard zero by actually shooting at 25 yards, but that was NOT UNTIL they had set a true 200 yards zero and simply checked back exactly what the bullet did at 25 yards, once you know that you can set/check your 200 yards zero all the time at 25 yards (or whatever distance works for you), but changing the ammo and setting the zero at 25 yards with this method will not necessarily work, you will have to go to 200 yards again then work it back to 25 to be sure! If you change rifle/barrel/ammo, the odds are things will change and you will need to check zero again. 1 Quote Link to post
