LuckOrJudgement 437
Thinking about giving one of these a spin. Has anyone been using one to kill rats? Are they any good? Quote Link to post

Are they any good? I hear nothing only bad reviews about them. Yea they work well in the Australian outback, because their ain't a ready available food source. But in and around your avearage farm yard, or chicken run, I don't think it would be as appealing. 1 Quote Link to post
LuckOrJudgement 437
They come with a long-life 'lure', some kind of attractant in a bottle that screws into the top. I would say that would be next to useless against competing feeds and pellets. I'm wondering if that was replaced with some revved-up cat food or smoked haddock - it might make the difference. I'm sure I seen some video's on YouTube with trailcam footage where other baits were being tested in uk. Might be wrong though. Quote Link to post
LuckOrJudgement 437
I just looked. Yes, you can swap out the baits. There also seems to be a lot of scope for disguising and adapting the trap. Dunno how efficient the co2 is in very cold weather. It's a lot of dough to spend on a single trap that might be crap, but I've got a feeling curiosity going to get the better of me. People told me that the Trapline mole trap was a pile of doo-da and yet I rate it very highly and catch well with it. Quote Link to post
Ratmanwan3 86
Was going to buy one but my killgerm rep said hang on as there is a new one coming out which is approved for squirrel as well. He also said the bait it comes with is rubbish. I think they will be good for squirrels in lofts. 1 Quote Link to post
Rowan 308
Not sure how good they are , but you can get plenty of mk4 Fenns for that money .Yes i know you have to check them more , but who doesn't like finding a dead rat? 2 Quote Link to post
Pirate 9000 676
I was given one to trial, it's been in a poultry shed for 3 months not caught a single rat,it's like a lot of these traps not tested in real life situations before marketed for sale. Quote Link to post
Ratmanwan3 86
What bait have you got in it pirate, the one it came with or have you tried something different. Quote Link to post
Pirate 9000 676
We used the bait it came with for 2weeks ,and have tried 4 different baits since, any traps being used in a professional situation need to deliver results fast and this trap is never going to deliver. 1 Quote Link to post
