woz 260
hello people..what x or straight whippit do you think is best for small fields?? weve got about 120 acres of grass land which is broken up in 6 or 7 acre fields with hedges.old fashioned ground i suppose.got no interest in running foxes as i have a 223 centre fire and they struggle to out run that .iv got a dog to do the bigger ground which i will post some pics of as soon as i get pics sorted..........hope everyone has had a great xmas Quote Link to post

lucky 578
a bedlington/whippet would be right at home in those smaller fields woz... Quote Link to post
minion 29
I hunt alot of small fields and have gone for a ped whippet. She will be used on rabbits and Hare next season. I believe her sire also worked fox. I have never really been into the bigger stuff but I might see if shes up to it to. Quote Link to post
woz 260
is there anyone on hear that has bedligton whippits ..theres someone selling whippits in the next town to me but the add dosnt mention working parents and they want £350 for the pups.iv seen little dogs work tight fields and they go dead well Quote Link to post
minion 29
I think £350 is the average price. Mine was only £250 but it was bred by a guy who wanted to keep one back for himself rather then by a breeder. Quote Link to post
woz 260
sound that isnt so bad then.wasnt sure if they were asking to much money for em.wont be ready for another dog for a month or two.in middle of moving house.. Quote Link to post
bowers1986 3
a bedlington/whippet would be right at home in those smaller fields woz... I 100% AGREE Quote Link to post
snoopdog 1,256
nothing wrong with the smaller lurcher ..but i like somthing with a bit of size about it .,...i run in all sizes of fields from 2 acre to fen land .....if its from the right sort of breeding you should be able to get a dog that can handle all sizes of land or most.......and be able to take other quarry aswell if the chance arises......jmop Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
Whippets are very good in my opinion, from good lines, they do well in most situtations. A pair of hard grafters below, they take all game, the brindle dog, likes a fox or two aswell. Quote Link to post
