craigemo 0
G'n'R are my all time favourite band. A lot of people say Hendrix was the best guitarist ever, but it's Slash for me, every time! Not many people compare Slash with Hendrix 'cos they are too different. People do say that Hendrix was/is the best but what they actually mean is that he was the most reveloutionary. Jimmy basically invented the modern day electric guitar. He was an inspiration to Van Halen who took the ball and ran. Vai is imho the most technically advanced but give me 30 mins of Slash any day. I play the guitar and it takes me about half an hour to learn a GNR track but I wouldn't have a prayer of learning some of the Vai or EVH stuff.......but.....like I said.....I'd rather listen to Slash. I guess it all comes down to what style you like listening to. I also rate Richie Sambora from Bon Jovi. His solo halfway through 'Dry County' Is IMO, one of the best solos I've ever heard. Shame about the rest of the song though!

pointer28 1
I have my MP3 on shuffle and this exact moment it's playing "stoned in love" by Chicane feat. Tom Jones. As for the debate on best guitarist! What about Dave Gilmour, Jimmy Page, B.B. King some of my all time favourites. Hendrix was fantastic in that he basically invented a whole new musical genre and Slash is brilliant also. Steve Vai and those are technically great players but there's no way I could sit down and listen to them like I would any of the three I have mentioned. I think that a lot of these technical virtuosos like Vai etc. lack feeling in their playing. Just my personal opinion. MP3 has just gone to "Welcome To The Jungle" by G n' R. bolio 51
I never miss this guy when he's in town, my favourite guitarist and a great entertainer. Eric Clapton is quoted as having called him the best guitarist he's ever seen.
