Never get my head around chips in a fry up or a burger patty.

Tomatoes have to be fresh tomatoes cut in half or quarters and fried and if any Cafe decides to put tinned ones on your plate making everything soggy walk out, I also agree with the Yorkshire Gold in

this day n age its not easy to find a decent cafe selling quality eggs bacon sausages ,  too many cheapo run cafes with no care or TLC,,, i was blessed to marry a cafe girl whos dad owned a ran a cafe for 30 years and his dad had a cafe bakery and veg shop in  hoxton for 20 yrs beforehand they knew what it took to run a class cafe , proper bread veg and and quality brekki ingriedients all home prepped and cooked , the mrs ran a 70 seater cafe from 6.am and it shut a ten at night  the food was how you want to eat it home cooked   proper grub  , but sadly this day an age some  folk dont want quality food  the turks 3,99 shithouse special runs the show food is measeured in price not quality   i wouldnt  give them useless cnts my dollars the majority fry up shit and serve  it up like its been fired out of a catterpult onto ya plate  i cook better meself  at home   and have give up looking  for a decent cafe thesedays  merry xmas and all that lol

Do you think the change reflects the shift in lifestyles though?

A lot of people don't want to sit and eat anymore. Everything has to be done at a breakneck speed. Costs go up, wages aren't exactly matching so it gets pretty cutthroat as a lot of these places are cash only to avoid the revenue.

I'm not saying they don't have their place but it's just one of those traditions that aren't evolving.

its all down to the price chris  our family cafe  used to peel ther potatoes for boiling chipping  now 95% use frozen french fries ,  used to prep  and cook all our veg and cook joints of beef whole chickens from local butchers  etc them days are over where the local eggman   butcher and greengrocer drops fresh food at a cafe  the economics dont allow it youl get packet processed shit served up in them shithouses now days  il stick to me old school pie n mash  and saltbeef    , if i want a brekki like i will do on crimbo morning and after im off to suffolk for eggs bacon pudding and sausges  veg real food how it should be

Being at a 5000-mile disadvantage I have to do this myself. Luckily I have an excellent butcher. Saying that I frequent a couple of excellent Yank diners that can hold their own with the motherland.

What's the bacon like in America?

For me Has to be good bacon, sausage, black poodig, fried mushrooms, runny eggs, tomatoes fried or tinned. and a good fried slice and crusty bread at the least!

Says it al about 99% of the cafes in London. The rot set in when all the old owners retired or were priced out, what a shame used to love going to the cafe on a regular basis
