Working a bitch while in season

What's your lads thoughts on this? had her out this morning seems fine, a little bit lethargic if anything, but still keen enough for a few hours ferreting.

If you keep on top of fitness keep her going til the 8 week mark when milk comes on then lay her off but some bitches go all to pot when in season you ll know her so just keep eye on her.

That's it, always gave em abit but she's seems abit different to others I've ran, loses abit of condition and what not, cheers lads.

I found some bitches run fine don't effect them atall some go nuts and run like pigs the 1 I got now is 5 and was ok when younger but now if I don't lay her off for a couple of weeks she teks forever to get fit again nice if they break down in june?

Mine works better when in season,don't know why.Only got one lurcher now so she has to work.

Providing my two are fit and hard muscled I give them 4 to 5 miles a day with the bike, on a leash, during the hot week to avoid them getting shagged. The rest of the time I work them pretty much as normal. I watch for them going "soft" from a couple of weeks after the heat but my current two seem to stay hard.

Like Aussi Whip's one, during the heat itself they actually seem to run well.

Without looking at their vaccination certs I'd say one's ..........feckit! I've looked at the certs. Kippsy's 7 & and Sadie's 4and a 1/2. I do keep them fit and hard though and in the past I've had bitches that go sulky/lazy/wappy when in the heat.

(They're around 3 weeks out of a heat right now and they'll be running tomorrow night or Sunday morning unless the forecast changes. They'd be out tonight but I've a hard day working tomorrow)

Fair play mate get them at it I had a right good Sunday morning planned for my bunch of planks but looks like it's gonna be just the terrier and young dog if he's ok?

on her own if shes up for it theres nothing wrong but causes havoc when out with other dogs , the dogs just try for the bitch and wana mate her or fight off the other males. so any time a bitch of the ones we hunted with was in season she was left behind on hunt days
