dyer 5
Hello chaps I am hoping someone on here will be able to help me identify this wood . It is about 6 and 1/2" across and was white when cut down yesterday but has oranged slightly. I thought it was field maple at first but after a bit of searching it looks more like norway maple any thoughts would be greatly appreiciated cheers Duncan

Waz 4,262
Alder goes bright orange once cut but I dont think the bark resembles that in the photo.
KES2 171
Black poplar has a dark central (heartwood) area - I have never seen one like this (bark) Field maple is much less roughly textured - I'd go with Norway Maple although some NM bark is very regular and unlike the enclosed photo.
