Recommend me a good scope

I'm in the market for a decent first focal plane scope, must be side focus, 30mm tube, pref 50 plus objective lens, mag anything upto 16 ish, but needs to start around 3 or 4, I don't like crazy busy reticle, and been ffp I would prefer a nice fine ret.

i have an optisan which I quite like, just wondering what else is worth looking at.

All day a falcon menace. Heavy though. Uber turrets too, but one of the best high end optics I've owned. Bangin in comp, sneaky adjust the zoom to get ranges

Yeah I had a falcon menace on a gun I done a deal on, but wasn't struck on it so sold it, maybe should have given it a go.

Just as a matter of interest, why do you favour the 30mm tube?

No reason other than all my scopes are 30mm, so I only have 30mm mounts and I have a habit of swapping scopes around between rifles as my mood dictates.

 

i had considered inch tubes to give a wieght saving so wouldn't be out the question IF I found the right scope.

Fair enough. It's just a lot of people think 30mm let in more light and that's not the case. Your reason is as good as any.

My experience, the glass is the most important bit for the best clarity, bigger objective for dawn and dusk, but it's all about the quality of the glass.

i do think the 30mm tube is more common place now.
