Yup,just the usual this year

You're not wrong there. Bit of leftover ham and a couple of fried eggs over the top, breakfast of kings  Look forward to that more than the Christmas dinner itself

We ain't having turkey this year either. I've ordered a 9kg wren with the butcher I bet that will take some stuffing.

we have a turkey and 2 bone rib of beef

the usual trimmings and i make my own sausage, thyme, onion and chestnut stuffing.

this stuffing goes down really well on cold turkey, salad and stuffing butties later

it was a right royal pain having to roast and peel the chestnuts until i discovered bags of whole skinned chestnuts

We usually try and bag a invite to my parents for Christmas dinner . Few reasons for this , 1 it's always nice not to have a mountain of washing up to do ,2 it breaks up the day (all day in our house is a bit of a brain drain with the 2 kids) ,3 my kids and my dad adore eachother ,as soon as the burst through his door hese winding them up and playing with them (by 4pm he'll have one on each knee watching two ronies with him ) 4 the most important one is my dad's a great cook . Will be a meat of some sort with Sunday lunch extras . Last time we had pigs in blankets glazed in honey .

My missus likes the traditional turkey normally get a 11-13 kg bird from butcher personally sooner spend that money on a beef.

This year we been getting lot of meat from a butcher who delivers on a Thursday to our area so ordered a hamper off him and it's got large a large crown in.

Blimey !! How many gallons of honey does it take to glaze a pig ? How do you apply the honey?  Just pour it over the pig or brush it on with a yard broom.  That is mind blowing!  I can just imagine the scene. >>> "Back the pig up mother and hand me the yard broom". Pigs in blankets.

Well its Turkey this year off my mate who has a small holding he has them running around an orchard full of grass. I looked after his stock for a week back in the summer and said i'll sort you a chicken. Well he came round with a chicken all right it was 10lb he called it a Cornish Cobb but looking it up I think it was a Ross Cobb. Any way there is only me and the wife so cut the legs off and froze them they were 1lb 8oz each soaked the crown in brine for a hour bit of butter under the skin stuffed and roasted, I think this was the best tasting chicken i've had. Maybe worth trying to  source  one if your have chicken for Christmas.

Cheers Arry

That's the same birds I have by the sounds of it, also reared in an orchard full of grass, certainly gives them flavour.

Well looks like turkey is still a contendor in the UK.

Might actually get a turkey crown. Just to keep up tradition.

Always have pavlova for a sweet and a decent cheesecake.

Cant abide xmas pudding and not overly keen on trifle
