With Brexit underway and a drop in EU nationals applying for the positions, the NHS is now recruiting in India for nurses.

Been recruiting them for years from Philippines,seen the recruitment banners often in manila,cebu,davao etc.Best way to plug a gap in any skills market is invest in UK kids,training and education.

I agree mate but the same government are pulling a Brexit in order to control immigration. Tax money going abroad to bring help into Britain. Interesting twist.

Just after the Filipino nurse victorino chua was found guilty of murdering patients a couple of years ago it was found he had bought his nursing degree in a backstreet manila printers,undercover investigators from either the bbc or sky flew to manila and found nursing recruits bound for uk were often helped to cheat in exams as the recruiters were after the recruitment fee,the more bodies passed the more fees collected,india and the Philippines are the same,corruption is endemic better quality candidates would be found in the uk,except the numbers aren't training.

Almost 90% of nurses from the Philippines have failed English tests which are part of a hospital's bid to fill hundreds of vacancies.

Agreed but why spend the money abroad when you can train your own people? Answer because the market dictates you go for the cheapest short-term option. The NHS is the fifth largest employer globally! I can't see how this can possibly be the quality use of taxpayers money that's needed and that's before we get into the sustainability aspect of the conundrum.

That's what I said in my original post,train kids,british kids,make it attractive for them to study as health care professionals,we need short term nurses to plug the skills gap until we have filled it internally,i had a knee-op in 2015 it was wall to wall immigrant nurses,doctors,specialists etc,do we really need more indian/African/Asian nurses once we have managed to do that?I know quite a number of Filipinos that have moved from manila to Dublin,to work as nurses as Dublin wanted I think 400? Not so long ago,i wonder if all of Europe is like this?

If I'm honest about the thing , I'd rather have a nurse doing the correct drills on my child than speaking nicely to her in her language 

then again when you see some of the jokers  scamming a living on the paramedic teams and ambulances , maybe an influx of foreigners is what's needed?

They should be treated as a short term solution to a long term problem,we aren't importing super-nurses with special skills far and above british nurses,just ordinary foreign nurses who bring with them their skills but also extra burdens with their spouses and children.

How will brexit stop EU nurses? We aren't banning EU nationals....just hopefully not allowing millions in hoping the ones we want are among them.

Excatly, my missus friend had a miscarriage last week at eight weeks, everything was fine, then she went for a scan an the paki c**t or indian c**t, said to her theres no heartbeat its dead, an of course shocked an couldnt take it in she asked for a second opinion an he turned an said, no second opinions im the consultant here.

She turns away an busts into tears, an the wanker turned round an said, what are you crying for it wasnt a baby.

 

Thats what a f***ing consultant said, im not joking if it had of been me, an praise the lord it werent, but id of knocked ten colours of shite out of him there an then, i wouldna give two fucks id have put him in the hospital bed he was standing over.

They don't want to come anymore. They're under the impression that the Brits can't stand them.
