walshie 2,804
I was reading about this yesterday. Never heard of it before. It involves a strong magnet (you can get different pull strengths) on a rope and chucking it in the river or canal and seeing what you can drag out. Surely anything worth finding isn't magnetic so you'd end up with old bikes, shopping trolleys and fish hooks? Has anyone tried it? Does anyone mind you throwing a huge magnet in the water over and over? Have you ever got anything worthwhile?

walshie 2,804
Hmm. I can't see what part of a diamond bracelet would be magnetic.

I have had a few goes at it I have a sea searcher magnet all I have found is bent nails and little bits like that, there was a big haul of old guns over a hundred pulled out of the ksd in Somerset not long back, funny thing was they were all ancient and rusty yet the police still swooped in using terrorism laws to sieze them, I think they ranged from Flint locks upto around ww2, best places to find naughty stuff is near road bridges over rivers and canals as people just throw it out the window of cars as they are driving over
