trappa 518
it's not being banned though is it? its just being made more expensive... in an aid to keep mugs from causing damage to themselves etc and ruining it for decent folk... wish they'd done that for hunting, then maybe we wouldnt be in this mess... Well im really glad that new labour are looking after me so well. Putting up the price of beer so i cant afford to get drunk...thank you gordon brown. i wonder whether you could ask him to flood the country with immigrants under the guise of importing "skilled tradesmen" to the extent that my children cant afford a first home because they are so dear unless he builds 3 million new houses on greenbelt land, or maybe you could ask him to tax petrol to the extent that 80p of every pound we spend on the stuff goes straight to his coffers under the guise of helping to curb pollution? Guest baldie
What this government have completely failed to do, or realise....is the fact that, life in this country is so feckin shite, people take drugs, or get pissed to blot out reality for a while. They get on about the middle classes [so called] who sit at home, and drink a bottle of wine a night, or a few cans, and they worry about "this" type of Binge drinking" this type of drinking is caused by stress. The type of stress brought on by , high mortgage repayments, getting the kids in a decent school, husband and wife both HAVING to work, to make ends meet in rip off britain....and then the scottish c**t has the nerve to tell us, its for the good of our health......the lying , grabbing b*****d. I agree that the government is a fecking mess and something needs to change soon... I dont believe that cost will ever stop people drinking and i dont think that the goverment do either... its just another way of lining there pockets with mugs money under the guise of caring for your health... I also agree that people should be able to do what they like within reason, just aslong as they arent inflicting there behaviour on another person...
Missie 1
Its more expensive down here by far, I was suprised by the difference when I was in Yorkshire last year compared to down south. I last worked behind a bar 2 years ago and Guiness and Stella were £2.90 then. I don't think it'll stop binge drinking, people will just drink more at home before they go out and be more drunk as they get into the pubs. I don't go out to get bladdered but I am probably classed as a binge drinker because I don't go out very often but when I do I drink a fair bit. I know when to stop though... Or maybe i will roll over like you I just dont understand people who feel they must go out and pissed or stoned... not my style ... The anti's don;t understand why you kill stuff .. not there style so are they right as well?

minion 29
I'm not a big drinker and very rarely go up town unless its for a works night out. Some of the bars in Edinburgh are at £4.20 a pint. I usually take the car and they charge £2.10 for a can of Diet Coke!!!! Pathetic. Still, they're full every weekend so they will keep charging these prices. My local where I have the odd pint is £2.20 and thats a bit more reasonable. It's like smoking. If you make a packet £10 people will still smoke. If the whole country stopped smoking today the country will be stuffed. Make a pint £10 and it wont stop people binge drinking. It just makes more money for the Goverment.
trappa 518
For me the point is that it should be your choice whether to have a drink or not. Not the government putting up the price pretending to do it for our own good when in reality its to make more money- a blind man on a galloping horse can see that!! Its MY CHOICE , and the day that stops is the day we dont live in a free country.period. Gordon brown is after one thing - MONEY, and he will screw us into the wall to get it. Malt 379
Totaly agree with you trappa. It's one thing to try and combat the shite that happens in the town centres on a saturday night, but that could be done in other ways. This idea of making things more expensive, for your own good or for the good of the environment is a load of bol*ocks. It's the same with the cars, be it fuel prices or that bloody silly congestion charge in London. They know people won't stop drinking, we'll just moan about it, then put our hands into our pockets and carry on. They see it as another way of fleecing an extra couple of quid off of us. I think half the problem is the so called bulldog spirit. We moan, but then get on with it regardless. Could you imagine what would happen somewhere like France, if their government tried to get away with half the shite that ours does? The country would come to a halt, there'd be riots & strikes etc. We put up with far too much from that bunch of morons, we could vote them out, but who's to say the others would be any better?
