Barbour Stinks Any Tips ?

I thought you can send Barbour coats back to Barbour themselves and they fix any problems ?

Clear the wax off using solvent and heat (hairdryer). Next srub with warm soapy water by hand. When dry, repeat wash. Make sure to wash the outer and inner. Dry out. If it still has a whiff then repeat washing. When there's no whiffy re-wax

Keep a look out for a scarecrow and have a trade with him

Its the lining Vin. Either hand wash the inside using a decent detergent or send it off to one of those Barbour repair gaffs and have it cleaned or relined. Whatever you do dont wash/damage the outside. Years of re-proofing are priceless in these jackets.

Once done shower before every use and it should be right for years.

this worked for me and boy did mine stink,, fasten up the zip and studds ,turn it inside out,, put some good quallity fabric conditioner in a spray bottle and spray all fabric , put in tumble dryer for 20 mins

Cheap mouth wash gets the stink out of by boots

It kills the bacteria that causes the smell

Try spraying the coat with mouth wash

If you have got a steam cleaner one of then little hand held units , give it a blast with that ... I have had some success with mine when I wanted to get the smell of piss off the concrete kitchen floor when I took the wooden flooring up

I've washed a wax coat in the washer on a cold wash and was fine. Also a fresh lemon squeezed in to a spray bottle with water and a little baking soda to spray in side the jacket

I did this and it worked !!!!   it actually smells too nice now...lol.. I smell like a whores drawers.. but that's got to be an improvement on smelling like a rotten carcass.

for whats worth vin,dump it in the bin, and get another .   there plenty about, ok i know it depends quality  of the coat, you can pay more money the  better the coat, but for what you do an need  one that water proof,  and keep out cold, there plenty of coats for £ 50 quid , if 2 coats a year , still cheap. i stopped getting expensive clothes  years back for going out with lurchers , it just not worth it, getting ripped etc , and as you smelling to fook, get couple cheaper coats in this brand  deff i got one , got mine telford  farming shop they sell everything you need there , there bound to have similar one up your way .  its called  TFM   if not in your area  ask them if they send you couple over , even with  pp   it still cheap .

I don't wear the Barbour for ferreting... it's for posing in the pub...very trendy you know! 

I'm with you on the workwear etc.. I've given up on the expensive brands a long time ago. None of them do what they promise. I buy cheap waterproofs and wear them over top of decent gear etc.

2 pairs of trousers last year..= £40. the second pair still going strong...lol

Only decent money I would spend these days is on good footwear.

These make good trousers for ferreting , hard wearing last couple yearif looked after but for £15 /20 if they only last a year there a bargain. They got plenty of pockets in for locator/batteries/phone /pocket knife ect etc.they also have the knee pap slits in to drop the foam knee pads in wich weigh fecking bout so when your on your knees setting nets and digging your knees serpent constantly soaked and on cold hard surfaces so reduce knee problem later on
