Northern Rock 512
Decide last minute there was enough wind so ten mins walk finds us in the first field closest to home . Dog is keen knows what is going to happen and over the fence and waits for the slip to go on. Quick scan , two very close who hop back to the hedge . One in the middle about sixty yards away and a couple over the other side 250 yds away. Spot one of the sixty yard ones , get fully downwind and start a slow walk up. Socks picks up the scent and starts to pull . Quick flash over and it's 20 yds and squatting in the longer grass. Lamp off and walk another ten and flick back on. Still squatting so I hiss her off and she hasn't seen it, gets to two yds and its off , good 40 yds tails she is on pace, turns it twice , runs on the inside along the hedge , turns it again and nails it. Click her back and it's back to hand . Good bit of praise , slip back on and a minute to get her breath back whilst I stick it in the pocket . Lamp back on and one still out 100 yds away. Back into downwind and start the walk up . 40 yds with wind in my face I flick back on and it starts to move , hiss her off and she clocks it , good run until it looks like it's going to hit the hedge and she strikes, missing it and rolling. Done enough to turn it away and she is back on it , two turns again, away from the hedge and it is nailed. Lamp off and back to hand and two in the bag. Loads of praise and out of the field onto the path. Paunch them out and give her the heart and kidneys and she is looking at me for more . Two is enough for me and I want to leave her on a high. So over the shoulder under the coat and home. Part of me wanted to carry on but she is 9 1/2 months and I figure a good succes like that builds her confidence . Very happy with her she is switching on really well. 12 Quote Link to post
