If they're any good they don't need a stop end and if you was anything of a terriermen you wouldn't be wanting to show her one.

Yes I appreciate your reply but I don't know if she is any good as havnt tried her I've only shown her a couple of holes with a little interest but nothing major as I don't think she understands what's in them or what to do with them as she like I said she had seen nothing. That's why I'm asking on here if anyone could help me out if they have any local digs to me which could help her progress?

Let the pup be a pup shes 8 months old ffs, you should be waiting at least another 8 months before even thinking of entering her into an occupied earth, are you in that much of a hurry to ruin your pup, then it will be onto gumtree with her as bushing terrier for sale. Well to be honest mate the reply I'm getting from you is the exact reason people Will become reluctent to even ask the question on places like this you jumping the gun straight away I never said I was going to put her in a stop end at the age she is and just because i was wanting her to come along to someone's dig did not mean for one minute she would be getting stuck into anything, just so she would have an idea of what it's all about. So I don't think at all me being in a rush to ruin my pup. And again I never said I would be entering her into an occupied earth anytime soon eaither, and I would never sell a dog on either if it wasn't doing what I wanted. I came on here for advice and to see if anyone could help me out and got a gun jumping reply from a tosser like you ✊

If you didn't want a stop end why ask for one, 8 months old and all you want to do is put it to the sharp end and f**k up whatever chance the pup had.

Out of interest when your walking about with it off lead is it getting its nose down and hunting about for stuff like rabbits etc. That is what I would be doing.

I never used to be a just fox fella and the couple of JR I had initially were worked lose and just worked there way up the quarry list and when they were ready they just dropped in to a fox and away we went. Then if I wanted to just go foxing they were leaded up. But doing it that way just nurtured there hunting and if they wanted to go to ground they could and if they didn't they didn't. If a dog is smashing through cover hell for leather as a pup after a rabbit its a good indication its on the right track hunting wise. When it is ready and enters a fox earth for the first time at its own pace and no pressure you hopefully will be away

I can't for the life of me remember any of my terriers first foxes. Only certain digs come to mind. Shame that

Yes mate I do a lot of bushing at the minute with my other to spaniels and she's really coming along nice, that's exactly the reason I got her I haven't got her to be in and out of digs week in week out it's just when I get out for a days bushing and something drops to ground I've got a dog there and I can get the b*****d out, I don't dispute for one second that she isn't going to do the job from what I've seen so far but a lot of it is just the if she's been on a fox scent that's all it's been so if I went to a dig I think it would help sort of put a face to the scent as such if you know what I mean, more so she will then know what she's chasing..

In that case carry on as you are and keep her collared up, all ways carry a shovel and know your ground very well. If on a new permission keep on a lead so you don't have any accidents until you know whats on it.Good luck with her

It's not about that it's about someone like me who doesn't know as much about it the job as others and coming for abit of help or advice and being shot down by people who are obviously more experienced at the job and you would like to think would be out the help up and comers.

If your looking for advice off knowledgeable people then slagging them off and abusing them is definitely the wrong thing to do ... just admit you were wrong and had been fed a bucket full of shit and ask them for the correct advice ... a bit of humility can go a long way in the dog world ........

It's not about forcing anything to do anything, even if it was desperate to get in I still wouldn't let it walk on to teeth.

Most youngsters out of curiosity would have a look, but without them knowing what is about to happen it's like sending the innocent to slaughter. Hole ending is baiting a captive animal, apart from being illegal it's just plain stupid.

Find a dead fox on the road, ask someone else to get you one, it doesn't matter if it's shot or a road accident victim. All your pup needs to know is it's fun to play with and it'll remember that smell next time out, if it's bred right it'll go.
