MickC 1,825
There's will be a lot more to this terrible shooting spree, but what they know and what they tell you will be two completely different things. Remember the Boston marathon bombing ? Nobody ever explained what Navy Seals were doing there despite plenty of pics/videos on Internet .

ChrisJones 7,975
Beside my winding up the easily led, thought this was a balanced write up.http://theness.com/neurologicablog/index.php/the-gun-debate-revisited/ That's a great article, congratulations, you have managed not to post your normal socialist drivel. Apart from all the sensible things the writer suggests (and they are sensible no doubt) I think you also have to look at how government have used other freedom grabbing laws on innocent citizens, see how far they took them in order to prove beyond doubt that government can indeed be trusted to take away yet more. But, none the less, good read. I think was very well written. I think one of the biggest frustrations for people is the lack of acknowledgement that there is actually a problem. But to do that would acknowledge solutions & that's a discussion they don't want, because it leads in one direction. Well written but doesn't tackle the issue of why the 2A was penned and just how difficult it will be to get what they want. The easiest, cheapest option is to put these bump fire stocks on Class 3 which is what is probably going to happen. Again the control measures mentioned in the article are sensible options but it completely ignores the elephant in the room. That is the 300m+ firearms already in circulation that they know of. America is not the UK. People will not sudden line up and hand in their guns. In fact, there will be a large number of people right this minute that will be panic buying bump stocks based on a press release by the NRA. Either for profit in the future or for some perceived slight against freedom. We know there is a problem but to amend the constitution for one issue opens up a legal precedent to amend it on other issues that's what scares most Americans. Also the blatant hypocrisy of gun control coming from nations that make billions selling them to other countries. America included. Your average Yank looks at any form of 2A meddling as a case of "do as I say and don't do as I do" and THAT is what gets people like The Donald elected! The fact of the matter is that guns are to America what Buckfast is to the Scots what conspiracy theories are to the Irish and what whinging is to the English. An ingrained part of the culture that isn't going away anytime soon!

pesky1972 5,326
The fact of the matter is that guns are to America what Buckfast is to the Scots Buckfast is almost exclusively the indulgence of what we in Scotland refer to as 'neds' (non-educated delinquents). It's rocket fuel for an underclass of tracksuit wearing young men who's culture is based on gang violence and petty crime. Buckfast will have been a component in the violent end of many of these neds down recent years, and whilst it may be ingrained in our society, it doesn't make it any more desirable.., except to the f****n retards that drink it and live this sort of lifestyle. Bit like your guns right enough ?

But it's make believe, right? I get what you're saying but people watch this shit and think it's real. Does it not even smack of hypocrisy?
