Rimfire Shells

As I am in the process of buying a .22 rimfire, I am going to buy different shells to establish what suits the gun but in the vain attempt to save a bit of cash, where would you experienced chaps point me in the right direction.

I assume you mean 22lr specifically? If you want subsonics, try Eley (very accurate in my rifle but very waxy) Winchester, RWS and CCI (which I'm currently using with good results.)

 

As you know, just because something might be good in my gun, doesn't mean it will be the best in yours. There's loads of makes, but I'd try those 4 to start with.

 

I'm sure the next person might prefer different ones.

Thanks Walshie, yes you are right on both counts, it is a .22LR and again it may well be a different result in my gun BUT at least it gives me a start point and I do need a start point.

 

I am not switched onto the better makes of shells like I am with pellets or my shotgun cartridges so looking to perhaps save myself both time and money. I spent so much on .25 pellets for my FAC FX Impact air rifle and would like not to buy every bloody make on the planet.

Ah sorry Dave, just saw you have a CZ.

 

The one I am getting, I think, is an Anschutz but can't remember the model ..................................... I will check it tomorrow.

if i were you i would try eley hollow or eley edge (made in uk!)
