mark williams 7,563
A very quiet night tonight as the foxes were about and the rabbits were not. Anyway as boredom started to kick in I noticed these crows. They were that far away they didn`t bat an eye at me taking a photo. So then I lazed them,- 70 yds precisely. I remembered last year when I set the HW 100 KT .177 for a 50 yd - 1 mill dot, hold over zero that at 70 yds it was precisely 4 mill dots hold over, so tonight was breathless, wind wise, so I thought fcuk it, go for it ! I went for the top one. I took a supported shot from this poly tunnel . I gave 4 mil dots of hold over to the boiler room ( dead centre of it`s chest) and built the shot, "Thock" ! it fell with both wings open, instant despatch, I couldn`t believe it ! I won't be making a habit of this by the way but what a buzz with a 12 ft/lb rifle, - my longest shot ever on camera. 14 Quote Link to post

On some forums you would be shot down for even thinking of taking the shot ,let alone taking the shot . Well done mate nice shot 6 Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
Very nice Mark I agree with VM - these things take some skill to shoot and, they do get some ridicule. But, the fact remains, with the right person behind the trigger, they're a very capable tool. Well done mate - for the shot and judging when to take it 2 Quote Link to post

I'll whack paper centrally all day long. No problems. But in the field, when that pump kicks in, I'm no where near as accurate. Maybe it's just me. But anyone who says there as cool in front of fur and feather as they are in front of paper, are talking billy bollox Love you stealth. We're ever you are Quote Link to post

But anyone who says there as cool in front of fur and feather as they are in front of paper, are talking billy bollox Love you stealth. We're ever you are I bumped into a landowner a couple of years ago, dead now, died in his 80's. He'd known me since I was about 10, we met when an old boy took me shooting on his land, and when the old boy became to lame to shoot, I was given permission to shoot rabbits and pigeons. Well, like I said, bumped into him, and after the usual banter he asked me if I ever got sick of killing things, to which I replied, the killing doesn't enter my head, only a good shot matters, so no, the live animal does not effect my taking the shot, although the odd OCD rabbit that won't keep still may frustrate a little. Love you back. 3 Quote Link to post
