Wolfdog91 7,139
So feild sports posted this and the comments confused me. Is a straight pull bolt action with some tac rails still viewed as an Assult rifle ( even though a actual assult rifle and a AR-15 are two separate deals ). Alot if negetive comments i see with this whuch dont make much sense. 1. Its a bolt action rifle. 2.its only a .223 which from my understanding is a popular cartridge over there. 3.its using the same NV alot of foxers use. So is the problem the fact it looks scary or somthing ?
DIDO.1 22,842
I get your points. When I was young I got the chance to spend time with old keepers and shepards , still working beyond retirement...these were men who had waged war on vermin their whole lives. I still can't help feeling even they would turn in their graves with the use of electronic gadgets and military hardware. But then I guess they had strichnine so perhaps I'm talking shite. Born Hunter 17,775
I haven't seen the video but being Fieldsports Britain they probably called it an "assault rifle" for sensationalist effect. We don't really have the whole is it or isn't it an assault rifle debate over here.

Well most of them younger than the Falklands conflict. Those scary AR rifles are for those crazy gun nuts, right?
stumfelter 3,034
Over here we can only use semi autos in rimfire. Centre fire rifles can't be semi auto hence modifying the ar15 to manual reload after each shot. As you say .223 is a popular fox round over here.

The AR platform is very versatile and making it bolt action opens the market to the UK. The comments section while pretty baffling is typical YouTube.
