billhardy 2,343 Posted September 11, 2017 Report Share Posted September 11, 2017 Ray's advice the best here on a note dogs are in the moments,and giving them the urgency fa the next kill etc means using and seeing you the source of this.they the penny will soon drop ,I trained a straight sal collie grey ,not the brightest she suffered with this but what was worse all done in a slow methodically way meaning fifteen minutes in a small paddock ,infuriating ,the advice above sorted her and she flying back ta the handler now lol,time patience and a bit of nouse they can all be mastered some quicker than oaths.atb bunnys. king 11,984 Posted September 12, 2017 Report Share Posted September 12, 2017 You want to make the dog a little excited before the slip. Once you see a bunny preferable a squatter keep the beam on it and give some little tugs on the slip and make a little noise like a tssssss sort of noise to excite the dog do it about 5 times the noise and the sharp tugs just 1" for example. Then walk up to the bunny and when it moves slip the dog. By exciting the dog he will enjoy the buzz. If he starts hunting up he will soon miss the excited buzz you was giving him when he was on the slip. He will realise that once he comes back to you he will be back on the slip and eagerly waiting for the next excited fun that awaits. Quote Link to post
